This one habit is putting microplastic in people's brains every single day and they don't even know it. We have Logan on the podcast today. Thank you for coming on the show. Brother, thank you for having me. And yeah, it's true. And it's in something that you probably haven't even given a second thought to, something that you've been consuming since you were a child on a regular your basis. And that thing is conventional chewing gum, which is essentially just artificially flavored car tires filled with microplastics, a chemical concoction of polymers and other synthetic additives that you don't want to be putting anywhere near your mouth.
Because whatever goes in your mouth goes in through your body and throughout the rest of your digestive system, including your brain as you mentioned. Wow, that's absolutely insane. I'm pretty sure that people now are absolutely mind blown thinking that what like how can somebody actually, or like the, you know, the supermarkets, the convenience stores sell us something that actually isn't fit for human consumption. But as you and me both know, there are many things sold in supermarkets and convenience stores which are not fit for human consumption and they're still on the shelves.
They're just in the wrong aisle. Instead of being in the DIY aisle, they're actually in the aisle where it's for you to, you know, check out and convenient for you to consume. Isn't that crazy? It is crazy, but also like you said, it's not surprising when you if you break down the percentage of things in those stores that are good for you versus things that are not good for you. I mean, we're talking about a 90% differential like these. Chewing gum is just one of those innocuous things. Most people just don't even give a thought to what is it actually made of?
Or maybe we all just assume it comes from the rubber tree, whatever. Like how? Or because you're not swallowing it, how bad could it be for you? But that's something also that you need to consider too is why would you put something in your mouth that you're told not to swallow? Like why can't you swallow? What would happen if you did swallow it? There has to be a reason behind that. And so, yeah, chewing gum is just one of those things, one of those sneaky things in our everyday lives that are slowly poisoning you along with pretty much everything else that you'll find in these stores.
And that's really the reason why we started our natural chewing gum company, Greco Gum, because there really wasn't a safe alternative out there. Now, there are natural chewing gums that do exist that position themselves like that. And yeah, they they are, they are less bad for you. But at the same time, they still have their own sinister ingredients. They're still using a lot of synthetic additives and flavorings. And really things that you don't need is they're completely unnecessary. And so I was, I was, I was in the hunt.
I had to go down a very deep rabbit hole to find like a true natural chewing gum. You know, the, the stuff that your great grandparents would have chewed, right? Everybody's heard about people chewing tree SAP like pine or chickle, and those are great to chew for sure, but they don't hold a candle to the mastic tree, which is very unique in its composition. And it has all of these medicinal benefits that you can't find or get and any other type of tree SAP. And so I when I finally discovered, you know, this mastic product, I knew one how hard it was to reputably source and get your hands on.
But once I did do that, I knew I had to, I had to introduce this to the North American audience because, you know, this is the best kept secret of Greece. At least it was at the time. This is not a microplastic gum, it's a natural resin from the mastic tree. Stray from nature. Most modern chewing gums are built around synthetic bases and artificial ingredients. Mastic gum goes back thousands of years. A plant resin that delivers a completely different chewing experience. It's not just something that you chew, it's literally a workout for your mouth.
The firm texture of mastic gum challenges your jaw muscles, giving your chewing system a natural form of resistance training while encouraging saliva production and supporting A healthier oral environment. And here is where it actually gets interesting. Chewing is one of the strongest sensory inputs connected to your nervous system. Mastic gum activates the trigeminal nerve, the nerve responsible for much of your jaw and facial sensation, which communicates with brain pathways involved in relaxation and vagus nerve activity, helping support a more parasympathetic state.
For people like myself. Focused on metabolic health, cellular Wellness, and optimizing my daily routines, mastic gum is a simple ritual that combines ancient tradition with modern science. So if you wish to explore my favorite mastic gum, head over to gregogum.com/mobility Fitness and make sure to use the code Code Mobility Fitness at checkout to get a nice discount on your entire order. Thank you Greco Gum for sponsoring the show. Wow, wow, incredible. And before we dive into the benefits of of mastic gum, I definitely loved for you to elaborate if you know if there are any downsides to to chewing like regular gum on a daily basis.
Beyond the micro plastics, is there anything that you have heard from people or experiences? Anecdotal evidence of any side effects of chewing regular gum on a daily basis? Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, one, it's it doesn't provide the type of resistance that your facial and jaw muscles require. When you compare it to chewing our gum, the texture is completely different. It's like just this mushy mealy, there's nothing to it. And so you know, you're, you're sending these signals to your stomach and your body that food is coming and they're getting these digestive enzymes ready, but nothing ever actually comes because there's nothing of substance in these gums.
Most of them are, are just calorie free sweeteners and dyes and flavorings. So there's zero nutritional, there's zero micronutrients. Whereas with mastic, I mean, it's loaded with minerals and micronutrients like zinc. So on top of the workout that your facial and jaw muscles are receiving from the heavy resistance profile that this gum has, you're actively nourishing your body as well. And when you chew mastic, your body is going to produce all of this additional saliva that you wouldn't get with regular gum because it requires more effort.
And a lot of people don't realize how beneficial saliva is and why it's so good. Saliva serves very specific purposes and it washes away the bacteria and any food particles trapped in your mouth. So it helps with freshening your breath. It prevents your mouth from drying out. So that's another reason why people have such bad breath, especially if you're a mouth breather. It's because your mouth is completely dried out and and you lack saliva, so you need to be spending time chewing more time chewing, more time producing saliva.
And that's my favorite part about chewing mastic is that you can chew the exact same piece for hours on end multiple days in a row and it has the exact same flavor and tech from the first minute. Whereas with conventional chewing gum, you get that burst of flavor in the 1st 60 seconds and then it completely dissipates. So you spit it out. So you're really not chewing for any substantial amount of time. You're just getting that flavor burst. It goes away and then you pop another piece because you want to keep chasing that flavor.
And all you're doing is just basically ingesting these artificial chemicals to give you that little, that little rush in your brain that we're we're also accustomed to in modernity now. It's important to mention that there's the sweeteners in these gums as well. They also, they shop the gut microbiome, especially, you know, the more harmful ones, which they keep changing the names all the time so they can get around, you know, these these loopholes of like keep adding the same sweetener, but just slightly changing like the letter at the end or some or some number or something like this.
And that can be extremely harmful for people's health because we know that gut health is the foundation really of our health. Yeah. And that that's, that's got to be the most sinister thing I've uncovered about the chewing gum industry as a whole is that when you look at the list of ingredients on any package of gum that you'll find at the store, what you will see is this thing called gum base. And gum base really is this Trojan horse, this loophole that allows them to put the really egregious ingredients into.
So they don't need to disclose what is actually in the gum base. All they need to say is that there is a gum base. So who knows what's in there. They don't have to say all of the things that go into there like the Poly vinyl acetate. So even if you think that you're getting a healthy natural gum, if you see the word gum base on there, which you will see that in every single gum except for mastic gum. When you see gum base that is a major red flag that they are hiding some bad stuff in there. And to your point about the the gut health, a lot of people when they think about digestive health, all they all that comes to mind is the gut.
But really digestion begins of course in the mouth and Mastic benefits your digestive system both orally and in the gut because of its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that naturally occur in this gum. And so when you're chewing it, you're releasing these beneficial properties into your mouth and it's going into your stomach and you're just, you're, you're not nuking your gut, which is a major problem when it comes to things like antibacterial mouthwashes, where instead of preserving the beneficial bacteria, you're just killing everything.
You know, the same thing when you're prescribed antibiotics. It takes people a very long time to fully recover because all that, all the goodness of the healthy bacteria you've built up over years, you're starting from square 1 again. So you're in a vulnerable state. And that's what's really great about mastic is that it supports the good bacteria that you've built up without destroying anything more than you would want to. That was like a really fantastic breakdown. And so if there is a direct relationship, a symbiotic relationship between humans and the environment, right?
And the further away we get from nature, the more problems we seem to manifest in our physical bodies. And so the closer we get to nature when we restore our faith and our biology and our connection, being there 24/7 as much as we can, incorporating nature into our lives by bringing things like mastic gum into our life. Do you want to maybe tell me a bit more about the process of the mastic gum, like how it's actually harvested from start to finish so people can really understand that mastic gum is not something that you are producing in some laboratory somewhere that is like natural, you know, natural.
Like when people put natural on a label, but it's actually something that you are just literally grabbing it from nature, just cleaning it and then putting it in a tin and shipping it out to. People, that's right. There's there's not much to it. We are just collecting what Mother Nature is providing. And So what mastic is, is it's this resinous tree SAP that seeps from the mastic tree. And this tree only grows and produces this SAP on one island in Greece. The island is called Chios, and it's the only place in the world.
You may hear from other people claiming that they have mastic where they are, but it's not true. Kiosk is the only place in the world, which means this is a very scarce resource. It's harvested once per year and it can take, you know, 20 years for a single tree to even be able to start producing this resin. So there really isn't a lot of it to go around. And in fact, there is historical references of countries going to war over mastic because it was so valued. I mean, there's texts that date back over 2500 years ago talking about the therapeutic benefits of mastic.
So it's not like this is some new trendy thing that we've just uncovered. This is a an ancient remedy that certain people have known about for, you know, many centuries. Unfortunately, it's been largely forgotten until recently. And that's our mission is to bring attention to this and share the benefits of mastic to a larger audience. And probably our biggest challenge is that, you know, as much as we have been growing lately, it's very difficult to keep up the demand because the supply is so limited.
And on top of that, you know, we only use the highest grade of mastic, whereas, you know, you can find lower quality mastic out there, but it's not something that we would ever feel right selling. And so in the fall time, these trees, after they've been scored with blades, this SAP begins trickling out and it drips down the trees and it drips onto the ground below. And from there the SAT begins to harden and crystallize. And then we collect and we clean and we sort and we grade these mastic pieces and we take all of the high grade A grade mastic that we can get our hands on.
And then we have our own filtering and cleaning process at our facility. We package that up and we and we distribute it and that's really all there is to it. There's no, there's no additives, there's no ingredients, there's no nothing. It's just a, a raw ingredient that we select the best of the best from and we give that to our customers. And I should mention that this is all done by hand, the same way it's been done for hundreds and thousands of years by the farmers and the growers of these mastic tree plantations.
There's nothing mechanical or automated about it. This is a very hands on manual process following the traditional techniques that have been passed down for many generations. Wow, yeah. And I'm a true believer in in energy, right. And how the intention behind how you do something is everything. So, you know, harvesting something with the machine versus doing it with your hands, There is an energetic process that is happening there. What is which is with care, with love and respect towards nature, which is completely different compared to, if you would want to call it this, like raping nature when you use machines and you are cutting down entire trees in order to let's say collect fruits for example, instead of actually hand picking them.
In comparison, it disassociates you from the process. And if you're not connected to something, how can you care about it? How can you cherish it? How can you give it the love and the attention that it deserves? But when you're physically holding that thing and your body heat is reacting to it and it's texture is reacting to you, like that's not something that can be discounted. It really does connect you in a way that, like you said, an automated process using machinery. It's just it's, it's the complete opposite of what we're trying to achieve here.
Wow. Yeah, yeah. And I also thought as well about the microbiome exchange as well that you're getting, you know, when when a chef is using their hands to cook food, right? And they're really like hands on and they're making you something really amazing that tastes really good. I believe parts of that process is because there is a lot of the microbiome of that person going into the food and the energy, right? The same I think with what's happening with your process as well. When they're picking that gum, those people have been living off the land.
They are working in nature, their hands are dirty, you know, from the trees, everything. You know, that's again that symbiotic relationship with the bacteria and that exchange which should be occurring for everything to thrive inside of our body. That's so true. And it's something I've really noticed lately is that, you know, you see all these cooking videos on Instagram and, and now everybody's wearing those black latex gloves when they're handling the food. And I have such a natural aversion to when I see that because it just started out of nowhere.
Nobody used to do that two years ago. And I couldn't figure out why does that bother me so much? But I think I think you've really nailed it. There's you're just creating this unnecessary artificial layer between you and the product that you're doing. It's like, why are you doing that? It's not, it's not more sanitary, that's for sure. It's just you're just adding this completely frivolous friction that doesn't need to be there, and it's just one more way that we're slowly disconnecting ourselves from these everyday things that we handle.
Yes. And also you were mentioning at the beginning about regular gum, how it cannot be swallowed. Can mastic gum be swallowed and are there any benefits to that? Absolutely. Not only can mastic be consumed, it should be consumed. Mastic is a very popular culinary ingredient in Greece. It's used in a lot of desserts and sweeter dishes. We also have mastic capsules. So we take our A grade mastic, we grind it up into a fine powder, and then we encapsulate it with no additives or excipients or fillers.
And so that allows people who want a very measured or consistent dose of mastic to easily consume those on the go. Or if you're not able to chew mastic, maybe you've got some new dental work or for whatever reason you don't want to chew the gum, you can still get all of the same benefits just by taking these capsules on a regular basis. So yeah, mastic 100%, very safe to consume. I encourage all of our customers to consume it because why not get all of the benefits, you know, yeah, you can chew it and extract that.
But hey, if it's safe to consume, why not? Because at the end of the day, it is just tree SAP, right? It's not, it's not, it's not Aunt Jemima Maple syrup. You know, this is the organic Vermont sugarbush Maple syrup that you buy from the Sugar Shack. There's there's levels to this and mastic is 100% and safe to consume. Love it, I love it. Have you ever thought about making a gum in the future made-up of beeswax? So I like just plain beeswax gum because when I buy honeycomb and I chew it, chew it and it's got filled with honey and I absolutely love the entire process of getting honey from honeycomb.
I feel like the energetic aspect of that is completely different compared to eating the same raw honey, which has come from the same honeycomb but separate from the honeycomb. It just doesn't taste the same because I feel like you're getting so many more things by eating the entire thing. And when I'm chewing and, you know, eating it, I always end up swallowing the wax as well. But when I'm chewing it, it feels very much like a gum and it becomes really, really hard, a bit like mustard gum. So I'm just wondering, have you ever thought about making beeswax gum instead?
Yeah, we we've certainly explored, you know, other ways that we can incorporate other ingredients like beeswax and we do have a couple of new formulations that will be coming out later this year that I think our customers are going to be really excited about. The one thing I can say is that you can you can guarantee there won't be any unpleasant or unhealthy ingredients. We're only sourcing the finest, most natural things. So unlike these other cocktail gums that you see out there with all of these different kitchen sink ingredients and additives.
That's not what we're going for here. We're using, you know, the same level of quality and care that you'd expect from us for offering pure mastic. We're keeping with that same ethos. There's not going to be any gum base. There's not going to be anything questionable in there. So stay tuned for for that coming later this year. Nice. I'm really excited to see what you guys come up with. Definitely because I'm a big fan of eating the real pure and clean ingredients. This is what this show is about.
It's about giving people like ownership and responsibility like over their health by empowering them, giving them the knowledge and the wisdom, right about things that to make them aware, really to bring the awareness about different subjects and about different things that you can consume, which are coming from nature. That's why I talk a lot about Sheila Jit on my show as well, because Sheila Jit is something, if it's harvested correctly and it's not messed with or tampered with and it's just get, you know, straight from the Himalayan mountains in the jar and given to you, it can be like one of those really powerful things.
The same thing with mastic gum. I feel like it's one of those very rare things on the planet which I know for sure I'm going to be using for the rest of my life because I know that a human being hasn't interfered with that process. And I 100% trust nature because as Doctor Jack Cruz says, nature never makes mistakes. And with Doctor Jack Cruz in mind, he talks a lot about mastic gum. He's been talking a lot about that lately because he talks about it for the parasympathetic active activation of the nervous system.
Do you know anything about the chewing and the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system? Well. I know that there's been a lot of studies lately coming out talking about the, the link between cognitive performance and cognitive enhancement from one, the act of chewing itself doesn't matter what it is you're chewing. It's just, it's just that chewing motion, you know, similar to walking, where it's one of those things that it's so automatic. It's not like you really need to think too much about it.
You just go about doing it the same way. Like when you're having a shower, it allows you to free your mind up and focus on things that you can really dedicate that brain power too. So chewing in general is, is really great for your brain and chewing mastic it, it removes, you know, the downsides from chewing other things too. So addition by subtraction in that regard. But I haven't. I haven't delved too much deeply into what he's had to say, so I'm curious to learn more. Well, well, from my understanding from what he mentioned is that from the interviews that we've had together and the other post incredible post cast that he's done is that the chewing action and why he promotes mastic gum specifically is obviously because it's natural, right?
He doesn't want people to go out there and chew some synthetic gum like we're talking about putting micro plastics in their brain. So and because of the the hard chewing action of the mastication from the mastic gum. Funny how mastication and mastic gum is like that. You know, it probably comes from the same word, right? And so it makes you chew harder and it stimulates the trigeminal nerve. And the trigeminal nerve basically comes right here where your jaw starts pretty much and goes you like your cheekbone to your upper joints, your lower jaw.
And when you chew really hard, it stimulates it really much. And because all of these nerves are connected in the brain to the to the vagus nerve, and because the vagus nerve is, you know, the branch which allows, you know, your body to shift between a sympathetic and parasympathetic state between depending on the on the branch, the left or right side that can stimulate A parasympathetic state in the body, which could create this feeling of calm in the system. And we know that when your body is in a parasympathetic state is the only time when your body can actually heal, regenerate and detoxify.
And if we are stuck in a state of fighting flight constantly, our muscles are more tense and everything is more tense in the body. So blood flow is restricted, lymphatic system is restricted, everything is more stale and stagnant, right? So when we have stagnation, that's not good because that means we have a lack of oxygen, we have a lack of nutrients to the tissues, and that means we get pain. That's what results in pain. And what is pain? Pain is a request for change. And so when we are doing something which is activating our parasympathetic nervous system, a simple act such as chewing, like I'm sure many people have noticed that when they've been really stressed, they will eat a meal and all of a sudden they feel way more calm.
Of course, the meal itself, the macros, the calories could have contributed to the parasympathetic activation as well. But it's the act of the chewing, the digestion and everything is shifting your body more into this parasympathetic state because it understands that the act of chewing means that you need to be relaxed in order to actually digest the food in the 1st place. So I think this, this is again, like one of the incredible features of mastic gum is that you don't actually need to be eating food all the time, but it's an incredible habit for you to, as you mentioned, keep your cognition sharp.
You're yourself focused. I feel that also ties into the parasympathetic activity because when you're all the time in a fighting flight state, your vision, yes, is tunnel vision, but then you also cannot think clearly. So you're more reactive rather than responsive. So I think that's another really, really big thing. Do you want to maybe talk talk about the jaw? The jaw benefits because you know how many people are interested in looks maxing these days. Absolutely. So that's a, a huge problem. I mean, take one look around when you go out in public and there is a crisis going on.
Everybody has smaller face. Well, most people have decreased facial features, which includes, you know, your, your jaw muscles, your skull shape, even your Airways, because we simply don't spend nearly enough time chewing. People masticate for way less time today than even their great grandparents would have spent because the foods that they were eating, you know, prior to the agricultural revolution, I mean think about the things that they were consuming, grains, tubers, cartilage, rough cuts of meat.
Whereas now people eat fatty cuts of meat, smoothies, yogurt bowls, all types of slop that just gets shoved down their gullet. So much of what we eat now is just, it's so overly processed at it. It requires 0 effort, which is a huge problem for a few reasons. 1 is that the more time you spend chewing the food itself, the more nutrients will become extracted from that. So when you are breaking food down in your mouth, you're you're sending these digestive enzymes from your stomach up to your mouth and it's helping to break down and extract those nutrients.
But also while you're breaking the food down, you're creating a larger surface area. So that allows more of these digestive enzymes to work, which allows your digestive process to be much more efficient. You're maximizing the amount of micro and macro micronutrients that your body is absorbing. So first of all, you're just missing out on a lot of nutrition when you're when you're not chewing. But also your, your face and your jaw muscles are no different than your chest or your bicep muscles. And that if you use a muscle a lot, well, that muscle will respond to that and it will get stronger and it will get bigger.
The opposite is also true. You know, if if you break your leg and your leg is in a cast for six weeks, you take that cast off, your leg is noticeably smaller than your other leg because it atrophied. It didn't need to be used. So your body is not going to send the nutrition, it's not going to send it the energy it needs to maintain its size. It will send it somewhere else. Same is true with your face. So each generation we're seeing the jaw and facial muscles shrink, which is shrinking the Airways, which is making people breathe through their mouths rather than their nose because their nostrils are not aren't as large.
So they resort to breathing through their mouth. That's something that I struggled with my entire life. And one of the reasons that I chew mastic so much now is building those habits to breathe through your nose. When you breathe through your nose, it's completely different than when you breathe through your mouth. Your nose is designed for inhaling. It filters that air, it humidifies it, it changes it. When you breathe through your mouth, you're, you're just gasping. You're not actually, you're just, it's the bare minimum.
And that's why you can visibly tell somebody who is a mouth breather versus somebody who is a nasal breather. And we're also seeing it with the crowding of our mouths. So everybody gets their wisdom teeth removed now because they're impacted because their mouths have shrunk. Most kids get braces now because their teeth are coming in crooked because their mouths have shrunk. So our facial features are literally changing before our eyes because our chewing habits have changed so dramatically in a relatively short amount of time.
Like we're talking, you know, only a couple of generations. You know, since this is all transpired, we're rapidly devolving. And the only way to combat that is to chew. But the problem is like you can only there's there's few foods out there that really offer the optimal resistance that people actually want to consume. Like, yeah, you could consume a well done steak, but I'd rather have it rare instead. I will have my mastic gum because the resistance profile of it mimics, you know, some of these tougher to chew ancestral foods.
And the other thing is that it's quite addicting. Like I know a lot of people have an oral fixation where they need to be doing something they need to have, whether that's a pouch or a toothpick, a cigarette vape, whatever. People just have this natural inclination to do something with their mouth and all of these other things are destructive habits, whereas chewing is the opposite. You get all these benefits from chewing. You get all the benefits from consuming mastic. So it's it's such a no brainer and such a necessary thing in today's world.
So that is the importance of chewing and not to mention the saliva aspect as well. So we all really need to be chewing more. I think the last thing I saw was we spend something like 90 minutes less per day chewing than our ancestors did. When, when you extrapolate that over a lifetime, I mean, it's it's really quite alarming. And it's only going to get worse too, as more and more food becomes more processed and we stray away from these whole food diets, these convenience foods that are shoved in your face and are designed to be irresistible to us.
Yes, yes, absolutely. I mean, chewing is so underrated, right? It's so, so important. Today I chewed my Mustek gum for two to three hours before our podcast conversation. And yeah, I just, I got such a big jaw pump and it's it's truly amazing, right? And the best thing about this is that you can even just put it on the side like in a glass of water and you can re chew the same piece over and over again. And the best part as you mentioned, is that it doesn't lose its flavor, it doesn't lose its texture.
It just feels like the same thing until you kind of feel like you want maybe like a fresh piece or you want to, you know, just take a break or something like that. But I absolutely love it. And I'll tell you something crazy. I went and ate something like really garlicky maybe 2-3 days ago. And the, the taste and the smell wasn't going away and it was really strong in my mouth. Even I could smell it because normally when you eat garlic, you don't normally smell it yourself. And so I, I was doing everything that I could.
I brushed my teeth and everything. And then I took a piece of mastic gum and instantly the smell was gone. I was like, what the hell? Like this is crazy. Well, it's it's really. Cool, cool stuff. Yeah. And the other thing too is we hear a lot from people who suffer from heartburn and all types of digestive issues. And H pylori also, mastic is so potent at soothing those symptoms because of its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, especially in pregnant women who suffer from really debilitating heartburn in the third trimester.
And when you're at that stage, it'll say don't consume heartburn medicine, blah, blah, blah, if you're pregnant. So they get a lot of relief from chewing mastic, which is a natural remedy for that. So if you're having any type of heartburn or ulcer or digestive related issues, I really recommend giving Mastic a try. It's a much preferable alternative than having like those chalky Tums pills that you'll be popping every 5 minutes or the the pink slime Pepto Bismol. We have an alternative for those products and I hear from our customers all the time that this was the one thing that finally gave them some kind of relief.
Wow, wow, so important. I feel like we kind of skimmed over at the beginning when you mentioned a little bit about the different like polyphenols or the the minerals in mastic gum. Did we go over everything or did you did you already elaborate on? That yeah. So mastic is kind of this, I like to call it a chewable elixir. And it seems like every other week a customer is sending us like a link to this new this new study or this new finding that linking mastic between all of these things. And at this point, it's just kind of, it's kind of crazy, you know?
And that's something that we really delve into deeply on our blog, on our website, Grecogum com, where we really get into detail into the nitty gritty about the scientific research behind mastic and it's beneficial properties. And we're always, we're always going more and more deep into that. So if anybody's really curious about like that side of things, I encourage them to check that out, go down that same rabbit hole that I went down a few years ago. I mean, it's, it's such a powerful thing with such a rich history that I mean, you could get lost for hours just uncovering all of the cool, the cool beneficial properties and the how and the why behind mastic.
Yes, it is truly incredible. I know that I always say on the show, this is not personal or medical advice. But you know when you when you look and see online and you see the research that's been done and you see these infographics that you know, you read on pub Med, all the different properties that it's known for doing it just literally blows your mind. You're like this one piece of gum that's all of those things, like no way. But then when you realize it, it just happens to be, I would say, gum.
It's more of like this potent resin that just happens to be chewable, but it's more like a medicine really. Of course, we're not saying that it's medicine, but it is really like indirectly. Yeah, what when we call it gum, it kind of people have this association and probably that negative connotation like, oh, gum. So it's like Juicy Fruit or hubba Bubba. But I mean, if you think about it like, OK, it's it's tree SAP, right? And so much of our modern medicine is derived from trees and plants and bushes.
So it really shouldn't come as a surprise that it has all of these therapeutic benefits. But one thing I, I really want to emphasize too is, you know, just because a study or a paper comes out linking the benefits, like I think we all know now, who cares how much of these things can actually be benefit? How much, how much of these can be replicated? Like we've all seen these claims, all this miracle product, and then a few years later, it comes and goes. And first and foremost, I consider myself to be a bro scientist.
I don't really care what a paper or a study has to say because ultimately I'm going to be my own test subject. So I can personally vouch for the benefits and the thousands of customers can vouch for the benefits, the citations and the that's just the icing on the cake that we can use to help convince the skeptical or the new customer, right? But the people who really care enough to seek out a natural chewing gum, I don't think they're that concerned about that. They know that they need to see it for themselves.
They need to try it for themselves with their own eyes, their own body, and they will ultimately be the judge. And the fact that mastic has been used for therapeutic purposes for literally thousands of years, I mean, that's the ultimate case study right there, right? I mean, these things that have been passed down from generation to generation, that's the proof, That's the citation. If it didn't work, people would not still be doing it after all of these times. So to me, that's the ultimate stamp of approval.
That's all I need. But if you are interested in reading and learning more, we've got that as well. Yes, yes, while you're doing a great service to the world and you're spreading this incredible resin to all of the people so people can have access to it, so they don't need to travel to Hios Greece to actually get this or try this incredible substance. So if people are actually interested to try Greg Ogam, you can head over to the description and also in the pinned comments you will be able to get a discount as well with my promo code or just by using the link.
