This is the Fitness Wisdom Podcast.
Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode of the Fitness Wisdom Podcast. Today we're going to be talking about the power of grounding. Grounding is such an underrated and simple practice that many people just dismissed because they don't necessarily see what's actually happening. You know, and we're going to dispel a lot of these myths today that exist around grounding, basically what grounding is, how it works and what kind of benefits can we experience from grounding in general. And there is still quite a big majority of the population.
They think that grounding is several science, right? Because you're just standing on grass. They just think it's this woo woo spiritual thing. But there is actual scientific like research and evidence to back up the benefits of grounding. So welcome to the show, James. It's a pleasure to have you. Thanks Andreas. It's great to be here. Awesome. So this is a very exciting topic for me because I, I'm a very big fan of circadian and quantum biology, right And I I'm in connection with nature as much as I can and I definitely noticed the benefits of sunlight right, But sunlight sometimes can be a bit stressful on the nervous system.
But the cool thing is about grounding is that I'm not saying that you shouldn't do sunlight, right? I'm just saying that grounding gives you all of the benefits with none of the negative sides, right? So you don't get basically any stress by grounding. You just only get the benefits. So maybe let's start off from the very basics for people who don't know anything about grounding, who I've never heard about grounding before. What is grounding? Yeah, yeah. Cool. Let's start from the top. So essentially grounding is any time your body is touching the Earth's surface.
So most, for most people, that's bare feet touching the grass or the sand or the dirt. Yeah, anytime you're, you're literally in connection with the earth, that's grounding. And there's now around 25 peer reviewed studies to show there's a lot of benefits that actually come with that connection. I think we've we've lost connection over time as we've been wearing rubber soled shoes and working in offices all day and things like that. But yeah, the studies points to direct contact with the Earth, reducing inflammation, reducing stress and cortisol, improving blood viscosity, which essentially is is thinning blood in a healthy way.
There's a lot of studies now that that backup, that actually being in connection with the Earth has a lot of health benefits. Wow, that's incredible. We'll definitely get into the benefits a little bit later on in the episode, but let's talk a little bit about the mechanism. So when someone stands with their bare feet on the ground, on grass, on dirt, on concrete, or in like a living body of water, what's actually happening there? You describe to the audience like the mechanism of how it works. Definitely.
So humans are positively charged and the Earth is negatively charged with negative eons. And so essentially we build up free radicals in our body to fight against anything that's within our body, within the atmosphere. So think about things like cell signals or Emfs or even pollution in the air that affects the air quality or impurities in our water. When our body takes those things on, it creates free radicals to fight against them. So free radicals are great, but as we accumulate too many free radicals in the body, the body tends to shut down and create inflammation.
And that inflammation is what leads to most diseases, most modern day diseases. So essentially when we touch the earth or when we're barefoot on the grass or using a grounding product, all of those free radicals that are accumulating in our body are neutralized by the negative eons in the ground. And as you knew them then they don't have the ability to clump up anymore and the body can start to go back to nature and heal the way it was trying to when it's not trying to fight against everything all the time.
Wow, that's awesome. So basically what I understood from what you actually said there is that those free radicals are not actually trying to harm us, but they're actually a good thing for the body. Basically, they're trying to defend, you know, health our body out based on a stressful situation that we're encountering. But too much of it can be an issue. Sorry. There's a little bit of drilling going on in my building, so you might be able to hear it through the microphone, but yeah, so it's quite incredible.
So basically it's the same thing with reactive oxygen species, right? When we accumulate too much, it can be damaging, but in small amounts it can be an incredible signaling, you know, to the rest of the system to create coherence throughout the system. But basically with grounding, you make sure that you are minimizing the the harmful effects of these free radicals, but you still get the beneficial effects of the signaling that what you need. Is that what you're saying? Yeah, exactly right. So, I mean, the Earth and the human body are both incredibly intelligent, but as we've moved away from nature, we've sort of lost, lost touch with the healing properties of both.
And yeah, so when the body accumulates free radicals, that's a really positive thing, but it becomes negative when it's a constant battle against these these. I guess it's the same with same with insulin. Like you eat sugar or glucose and insulin's role is to push it down, and that's a really positive thing. But when you're constantly feeding your body with glucose and the insulin is constantly having to fight against it, it becomes too much and the body starts to break down and create inflammation.
It's the same with grounding. So yeah, just by by getting out and being in nature and and touching the surface of the earth, those free radicals can start to be neutralized and that's the the start of the process to removing inflammation out of your body. Amazing, guys, if you haven't already, smash that subscribe button and the like button. Now back to the show. And so let's talk a little bit about the Earth's surface a bit because I've always wondered, you know, where does this electrical charge actually come from?
Did it always just exist on the planet? Like, how is it generated and how, Yeah, because I'm just wondering, you know, how is it just magic that is just there? Like how is it? Created. Yeah, it's, it's pretty incredible when you think about it. So the Earth, obviously there's the magnetism of the Earth, and then there's the atmosphere and there's all the electrons within the Earth's surface. And because they're negatively charged, that's essentially what creates that power that we can connect with.
So it's all there, like it's always been there. And I think we've always had access to it. It's only just the last probably 100 or 200 years where we've lost touch with it, where we've we've stopped being in direct contact with the earth almost 24 hours a day. Even even 200 years ago when people wearing sandals, those sandals are most likely made of some form of leather or, or material that conducted the earth. And then we were sleeping almost directly on the ground, maybe on a sheepskin or some form of animal skin that actually conducted the earth as well.
But now we're just, we're so far removed from that that our bodies are fighting against more. There's so much more for our bodies to fight against now, but we've gone even further away from the natural healing that the Earth has to offer US. 100% and I've heard before that like the lightning when when they basically there is lightning, doesn't that contribute to the amount of electrons that charges the earth sort of isn't that the way that the earth gains its charge or something like that? Yeah, I've heard that the when there's lightning, that helps to create the balance back into the Earth's surface with the flow of electrons, which is pretty incredible.
It is because you just think about it like nature just gives the electricity and then we just sort of like bring it back into our body, right? And then if we live in symbiosis with nature, we're able to give back to nature. But because we've disassociated ourselves from nature and we cause like havoc and, and harm to nature, it's better if like we just are away from nature until we fix our like inner self so that we can return back to nature whole. And that's basically what grounding does, right?
Helps to rebalance your nervous system state, come back to your like common senses. You mentioned there about wearing shoes and how that disconnects us from, you know, the Earth's electromagnetic field and these negatively charged electrons. What other ways are people disconnecting themselves to nature? Is that is that like the primary way I? Think that's that's the main reason that we're no longer connecting with earth, but I guess it's just the convenience of our modern lifestyles that on one hand are incredibly incredibly convenient like things like having electricity free flowing through our house and having Internet and and things like that it makes life so much easier and and better in in so many ways, but it also takes us so much further away from nature.
So most people now are sitting indoors for probably, probably more than 23 hours a day. And and by doing so, we're removing ourselves from the natural sunlight and from the the electrons that the Earth has so freely to give us. But yeah, it's just really modern lifestyles. And I don't think we need to go back to being on the earth 24 hours a day, but I think we just need to be more mindful of trying to incorporate more of that into our busy lifestyles. Imagine spiking your blood sugar without eating cake, elevating cortisol, your stress hormone, without being stressed, and suppressing your body's most powerful sleep.
Antioxidant and regeneration hormone, which is your melatonin. This is why I make sure to wear my yellow daytime blue light blocking glasses every time when I spend time indoors under artificial lights and in front of screens to protect my eyes from oxidative stress and my entire body. And if I'm going to be exposed to artificial blue light, especially after sunset, I'm going to wear my red lens blue light blocking glasses to support my melatonin production and release. So if you want to protect your energy levels, sleep and biology from artificial blue light, head over to the description and you will find all of the links with a save discount on my favorite blue light blocking glasses.
100% yeah. I mean, I don't think human is ever gonna go 100% back to, you know, being connected with the ground 24/7 because most people are, you know, wearing shoes even if they were in contact with the ground, which is disconnecting them, right. But we, as you're mentioning, we need to find ways to incorporate somehow the grounding back into our life in order to sustain, because it's my belief that grounding is the natural state for the body, right? And I just want your opinion on this like not grounding is basically not natural.
So we can of course, expect some negative consequences associated with the fact that we are not doing what we are meant to be doing. What's your? Thoughts. Yeah, I think it's spot on there. And yeah, so I mean, grounding is the natural state, but we're also, and that's one side of it, but the other side is we're so far away from our natural state with the way we live our lives now. Like I was mentioning being indoors all the time, but yeah, I was running a little experiment last week just to show the voltage of electricity that was running through my body both indoors and outdoors.
So you can do this quite easily with a pretty inexpensive multi meter, which most hardware stores sell. So when I was sitting outdoors and I was in the middle of the country in Australia, like I was probably and two hours away from the the nearest major city, I was sitting outside and I still had three volts of electricity running through my body. And so this is coming from the electricity cables that are, that are nearby, which are running electricity to the household. And it's also the the Emfs and the cell signals and the Wi-Fi signals and things like that.
And then I went indoors and I tested myself and I had 22 volts of electricity or energy running through my body, which is just a crazy number. And like 200 years ago, our bodies didn't have to process that when we were in our natural state. And so that's constantly bombarding us and creating with like, that's where the free radicals coming in to try to protect us and remove those from our body. But as soon as we we stand barefoot on the grass or as soon as we such a grounding product, a grounding sheet that goes down, the voltage goes down to almost 0.
So all of that energy is removed out of your body and your body can then work on healing the parts of the parts of it that it needs to and not have to fight against things that are constantly coming into our lives. So what kind of symptoms can people experience by not grounding? Let's say, you know, we know we're going to talk a lot about the benefits of grounding. What kind of symptoms are associated with a lack of grounding? Because I feel like many of the symptoms are similar to other things as well, right?
So due to a lack of sunlight, due to a lack of sleep, they can be kind of like similar. But of course, that means that we are not connected with nature because naturally when we're outside on the beach, we're we're most likely going to be grounded and getting the sunlight and we're going to be moving more and so on. So what kind of symptoms have you seen or do you know of in the research which is associated with a lack of grounding? We've seen so many because the body is constantly fighting against things.
It creates issues for the nervous system and a lot of people struggle to get into the rest and digest and they're constantly in fight or flight. So that has a whole host of issues on stress and cortisol, which then effects sleep. And we hear of a lot of people who struggle to get to sleep or stay asleep. A lot of people wake up at 34 AM in the morning when they get that cortisol spike and and that's the body is constantly fighting against things and it thinks it has to be ready to go. And so it can't get into the rest and digest and actually let the body heal.
That's one side of it. And then another is it's just such a huge amount of inflammation related illnesses right now. Yes, we've seen a lot around arthritis and pain and inflammation in joints and people with back pain and knee pain and things like that. And then one other area where they're still doing studies. So there's not a lot of scientific evidence around this one, but anecdotally, we hear a lot around people with neuro, neuro diversity issues or ADHD, autism and things like that and just feeling like they can never relax and that the brains always buzzing and, and going and it's just constant.
So there there's some of the things where when you're not grounding, your body is just constantly fighting against itself and it can't get into that natural rest and recovery state. Yeah, that's that's crazy. And it just makes you realize that, wow, like all of this just because we are disconnected from nature, right? And we have divorced ourselves from our body actually needs. So it's not something just nice to do, but what you're basically saying it's a biological necessity to do. And it's not just something that you do once every so often.
It just, it's the consistency. Just like with everything, if you want to see results in life, you need to have these little tiny action steps that you do every single day. And if it's not actually something hard to implement into your life, you're most likely going to stick to it, right? But a lot of people don't actually realize that there are many consequences associated with being disconnected to the natural world. And This is why I wanted us to do this episode to educate people how important it is that you have some certain practices that you cannot miss even one day of your life.
Of course, if you the majority of the time, 95% of the time you live healthy, of course you can get away with one day here and there. But for people who are unhealthy or they have some health issues or they just need to get their life back on track, they need to be way, way more consistent compared to people who are already at a good baseline. So of course this is very context dependent and bio individual, but everyone benefits by being in connection to the natural source of energy, which is the ground and the sun and eating basically real, real food, breathing and and all that good stuff.
How did you actually get into grounding? Do you want to Share your story with the audience? Yeah, for sure. And and just to reiterate your last point there. So I think if people are really unfit, they probably think like, how can I get 30 minutes of exercise a day? But really the question should be how do you just move more and make it part of your lifestyle and not do 30 minutes? But how are you moving like all day every day? And I think it's the same with grounding. It's not about like how can I get 15 minutes or 30 minutes.
It's how can I incorporate it into my lifestyle. So it's not AI have to do this, but it's just something you do all the time. That's that seems to be where it tends to make the most sense and be the easiest for people. But yeah, my journey into grounding, I was probably similar to a lot of people with grounding. So at first I was incredibly skeptical about it and I thought that it sounded a bit woo woo in pseudoscience. I'm someone who likes to try a lot of different health trends or products just to see if they work.
I've always been into health and Wellness and someone, my brother-in-law recommended a grounding sheet to me and he said he'd been sleeping really well. And I said just doesn't make sense to me. And I read some research around and there's a bit of, there was a bit of research there. This is a few years ago. But I was just like, probably that's not gonna work, but let's give it a try. So I, I bought a grounding sheet and I was actually shocked within about after the first night I woke up and my wife and I looked at each other in the morning.
We like, did did you dream a lot last night? We both dreamed like we hadn't dreamed in a long time, which I thought could be a coincidence. But it turns out that when you start grounding, you actually dream a lot more. And I think it's because you go into a deeper sleep. But around a week or so later, I really started to notice an increase in energy. And I've been someone who's always struggled to get to sleep and then always waking up around 3:00 or 4:00 every morning. And at the start that didn't really change.
But on the nights where I couldn't get back to sleep at 3:00 or 4:00, I'd wake up in the morning and, and just have so much more energy. And, and as someone who's struggled with energy for such a long time, I thought there might be something, something here. And as time went on, my wife and I just felt so much more energetic and it just got better and better. And so I thought, I think there's an opportunity here because at the time, there's a lot of low quality products on the market selling cheap, cheap products that from what I could see didn't last very long.
So I thought there was an opportunity to create a high quality product that would last a long time. And so I ended up finding a supplier and making a completely different material products to what was on the market. Yeah, that was a few, few years ago. Now Granny has really taken off, I feel over the last 12 months. It's. 100%. It was incredibly nice when I first started the business, but now it's, it feels like it's becoming more mainstream. I think people who are skeptical to begin with have now come around to it.
And a lot of people get such good results that they want to tell everyone about it and they want to tell their friends and, and their family and, and get them on board, particularly when they they get in improvements in some form of issue that they're trying to solve around information or sleep or pain or anything like that. You've probably heard about red light therapy before and all the incredible benefits that it has to offer. But unfortunately, not all panels on their market are created equally and This is why I only use and trust the ones that have put in the description below.
They have the highest quality panels on the market from build quality, a aesthetics, and functionality. So if you want a massive 40% discount on my favorite red light therapy panels, head to the description below and make sure to use the promo code attached to get a massive 40% discount. Yeah, amazing. So basically you just tried it not because you necessarily had some health issues, but you because you actually were enthusiastic about health and kind of like biohacking and optimizing your biology that you just wanted to implement and see what it's basically all about really.
And it's been kind of like the same for me, But I have also encountered some issues over the years with like allergies and stuff like that from the environment or from food. And when I've done more grounding, all my allergies to go away. It's, it's insane. And not only that, but I just feel so much calmer at night and I can actually sleep properly. But when I haven't been grounding enough throughout the day, all, all of the symptoms come back, which actually shows me that I don't actually have a kind of allergy, but I sort of have lack of energy in the system.
Because we know that the for in order for the body and the immune system and all the cells and mitochondria to work properly, they need energy, right? And if they don't get the energy that they need, then you manifest A context or bio individual symptom. Like for me, it's like, you know, it came across like as an allergy, but for someone else, it may come across as pain in the body or insomnia or something like this. We know that the nervous system is so important at regulating. So many different functions across the body, right?
And we want to be the majority of the time in a parasympathetic state because that's where we heal, regenerate, repair, detoxify. And if we're all the time stuck in a fight and flight state, the sympathetic state, our body doesn't care about those things because all it cares about is running away from the threats, right? It's all about survival. It's not about thriving. So maybe you could explain to us how does grounding actually help regulate the nervous system? How does it get us back into that parasympathetic state?
Yeah, for sure. Yes. I mean, the studies show that that grounding reduces cortisol by 31%. And I think that's a big part of the the body's ability to move away from the parasympathetic nervous system into the the rest and digest. And so as soon as you touch the ground, those negative eons, the electrons start flowing through your body to neutralize the free radicals. So the first thing is as a result of that is your blood viscosity increases. So essentially, instead of having thick sticky blood, it starts to flow better and it becomes thinner.
And there's a lot of people with issues with their blood and they don't, they don't know about it. And as soon as they start grounding, they just feel like I feel more energetic because their body is processing the blood through the body much smoother. So that's a big one. And then, yeah, as cortisol reduces, we start to breathe better. We start like everything just starts to flow better and particularly when you sleep on grounding sheets, I think your body's ability to go into a deeper rest is much improved.
And by going into a deeper rest and not fighting against things in your body whilst you're sleeping and actually recovering, then your body can go closer to its natural fate and you just wake up with so much more energy. And then over time, as the free radicals are unclumped and neutralized and the inflammation is reduced, that's when that's when people start to get less, less pain, less joint issues and less back issues. Migraine makes all the all the things that their body trying to create to protect themselves start to be removed so they can go to their natural state.
So you've kind of went like full circle there. You kind of encompassed all of the, all of the benefits in one because it's as you say, it's not just, you know, because the nervous system has this knock on effect right on all of the other systems of your body like your immune system and and so on in your, in your detail, your lymphatic system, for example. So by grounding, we're basically aiding our ability to sleep better. We're aiding our blood flow and by that and reducing the inflammation by that, we are lowering our stress levels and that's actually allowing us to come back, back into that parasympathetic state.
Basically what you're saying and another thing that you mentioned there, I kind of lost my train of thought you were saying something about it'll come back to me. But but basically, yeah, it's quite incredible. Like how it's ha, it's having all of these effects all over the entire body. And I can assume it's because we are gathering more charge from the earth and we are not only gathering the charge that our body needs to bring up that voltage in the body, that negative charge, but we're also, what do you know about grounding and you know, the Emfs?
Like how does grounding help us deal with the Emfs better? Yeah. So I mean, just again, to reiterate your point. So as your body goes into that state, then everything starts to flow better. So we've heard a lot of people with gut issues and the voice struggled with certain foods. But then as the body is able to go into that more relaxed, right and and just, it just starts to process things better. So yeah, we've heard of a lot of people with gut issues and like you mentioned before, skin issues, things like eczema, your body can then start to actually process things that were harming it before and much better.
So yeah, there's a huge flow on effect, particularly around like what your body can do when you're in a really good rest and how it can heal and repair itself. But in terms of Emfs, it goes back to what I was saying before around that little test I was running and how many volts of energy are running through your body at one time. So as soon as I mentioned that I had three volts running through me when I was outdoors and then 22 when I was indoors, as soon as I touch my bare feet on the grass or laid on a grounding sheet, that went to almost 0, so 0.03.
And essentially what that's doing is removing all of the Emfs out of my body. So as soon as you ground, it leaves your body straight away. And we're constantly being bombarded by EMS, probably most people without knowing it. We sleep in rooms with with the PowerPoints next to our beds and we're usually charging our phones or we've got a lamp there. And there's Emfs that are electromagnetic frequencies that are coming out of there and essentially our bodies taking them in without us knowing it. And our free radicals have to fight against that because it's foreign to the body.
But as soon as we, as soon as we ground, our body doesn't have to fight against it anymore, because it leaves our body. So basically you're instantly discharging sorts of this like dirty electricity or voltage that you're accumulating in the system. You are just putting it instantly in the ground. Is that what you're saying? Exactly right. Yeah. And so that's the whole reason that houses are earthed, are cabled with an earth cable. So and most countries, I think all first world countries now by law are required to have an earth cable cabled in with, with the electricity.
And essentially that is 1 cable that runs behind the point. Usually there's 33 points and it's slightly different in Europe to what it is to Australia, UK, Canada, US, but usually it's 3 points. And two of those points are for the electricity and one is for the grounding court or I think cord. And that literally is a cord that runs behind and then goes directly into the ground. And the reason that it is war is because without that, there's much more higher chance of a discharge of energy or something that might create the fire or something like that.
With with the electricity, as soon as there's a fault, it sends it directly into the ground and it removes that charge. So it's a safety mechanism and apparently the safety mechanism for the body as well to remove the charge that's coming from all the foreign things in our atmosphere. Yeah, yeah. It's crazy because I actually own so many products which I've bought over the years which actually have the. They don't have the earthing plug, they only have the two like electricity parts. And I'm thinking they didn't think about the tumor at all, especially if it's something that you need to have like plugged in all the time.
Like my laptop charger, for example, it has just the 2 pins, but it doesn't have the earthing part at all. And that's just so funny because basically what I do, I use this one adapter in the wall because in Cyprus we have the three prong, you know, plug. And it looks like the UK plug basically. And so the top one is the grounding one and the bottom 2 are the electricity. And what I do is I basically get this adapter which has the earthing thing at the top and then the electricity at the bottom. I'm not sure if that actually now makes it grounded.
Does it make it grounded now? As long as that top prong is connected into the socket, then yeah, the ground cannot do it. Yeah. So what I do is I get the charger and I stick it in the adapter and I stick the adapter into the plug because I kind of, that was my common sense that, you know, if it's actually connected into the wall, it's more likely that now the electricity will just flow back into the earth instead of it just being just accumulating all around the charger and in the in the laptop while I'm using it.
Yeah, that's right. That's that's a good way to do it, definitely. Awesome. Yeah. And, and there's a lot of people who are skeptics when it comes to grounding because they feel that the body becomes an antenna, right? And that you are actually now instead of you just, well, I just think to myself anyway, like you did with the multimeter test that anyway, your body is like accumulating this voltage, right? Nevertheless, whether you are grounded or ungrounded. So I just feel like it's better for you to be an antenna that's grounded.
You know that because your body is conductive or rather than an antenna that's not grounded because now you're just accumulating all of that electricity and it's just staying in your system and now I've got all of this inflammation versus with your grounded, at least you're discharging a lot of that electricity. Like what's your opinion? Yeah, I definitely agree with that. I think. Yeah, as long as your feet aren't on the earth or your skins not touching the earth, then you're just accumulating that energy in your body.
And it's something that we haven't, our genetics haven't got to catch up with because it's only a recent thing. And so the body doesn't really know how to deal with it. And that's why all this inflammation occurs because it's it's trying to protect us, doesn't really know how. And there's not really any way to discharge it until you touch the earth. So yeah, I think yeah, 100% agree with that. Yeah, it's just because there are as many people who are aware about grounding, right. But they just kind of dismissed the indoor grounding due to the fact that, you know, we have the flowing electricity through the walls and we have the Internet and the Wi-Fi like you mentioned.
And you, as you said previously, when you checked with the the multimeter, your, your body voltage was significantly higher compared to doors because you're surrounded by more, you know, electrical fields and Emfs, especially if you live in a building with, you know, many other people as well. So I guess like for the skeptics and the people, you have actually built a product which has actually included like a resistor and to make sure that you're not actually getting the electricity from the wall into the ground, which is super cool.
Do you want to explain that to me a little bit? Because I don't fully understand it. Yeah, for sure. So I think most people start off skeptical when they first hear about grounding and there's a few reasons for that. One is that we've, it's a pretty recent thing, I think, but it's something that big pharma and big Tech and all those sort of, you know, corporations can't make a lot of money out of like you can't patent the earth. And so we've been told that you need to have certain pills and certain supplements and things like that.
But there's not a lot of a lot to be gained by telling people to connect back to the earth. So I think marketing is one reason why it hadn't really taken off like it probably should have, and also why people are skeptical about it. But the the typical transition is people hear about grounding and they're incredibly skeptical. And I get it because I was as well. Then they'll try grounding and they'll still be skeptical. And then they'll get a few weeks down the line and they'll start to notice the benefits and then they usually turn evangelical about it and want to tell everyone about it.
So that's the typical timeline. And so I totally get that and I respect that. And a lot of people will say that it's woo woo and it's pseudoscience, but given the time to actually do it themselves, they'll, they'll come around and I'm really confident. But to go back to the resistor, and this is a big part of the reason I wanted to start the business as well, is a lot of lower quality products on the market don't have a resistor in their cord. And so if a house has faulty wiring and maybe I step back a bit and tell you how the product works, there's a cord that connects into the the outlet, a plug that connects into the outlet, sorry, on a three prong system, it only connects to the earth.
So the only prong that's metal on the plug is is connecting to the earth. Then our grounding sheets which go on your bed have 30% stainless steel in them, which is the conductive material which carries the earth's charge into your bed essentially. And so there's a lot of cheaper products out there that don't have a resistor in their cords, which means that if the house was fault really wired or cabled, if there's any issues with the cabling or if there's a lightning strike or anything like that, then it's possible that without a resistor, the electricity can come up through the cord and then essentially come into your bed through the grounding sheet.
And so we created 100K on resistor, which essentially is a safety mechanism, which means that if a house is wired faultily or if there's a lightning strike or anything like that, that's going to stop any energy that we don't want coming through at the source. So that doesn't come in. So essentially it's a safety mechanism to ensure that you don't get electrocuted really. Now that's for sure a game changer and that's the reason why I haven't been, you know, in collaboration with any other brands across the market because they didn't like specifically specify that it's protecting you from this factor.
And I feel like it's a huge factor because these this day and age, like there are actually, there is so much like faulty wiring and, and, and lack of shielding and lack of grounding, you know, in houses. So I feel like it's important that if we are going to do this, it's important that we do it like properly. And This is why I like, I trust your products and I honestly like feel the benefits as well straight away. So for anybody who is interested, there is a link in the description below. And if you use the code mobility fitness at checkout, you will be able to get like a massive discount on your entire order.
They have like grounding sheets for all kind of bed sizes, grounding mats and all that good stuff and different plugs for different regions of the world. So definitely check those out guys. Like I highly recommend it because I'm getting grounded every single day outside as much as I can ride my bare feet on the ground, on the grass. And I'm also getting in the sea because I live very close to the sea. And for me, that's like essential. But of course, I've also acknowledged that I'm not getting grounded like a very big portion of my life is when I'm sleeping.
And as human beings, we, we evolved and we were designed to be to, to be in connection with nature 24/7. And because of that, obviously now we're missing out. And we're not only that, but if we are surrounded by electric fields that we can't help running through the walls, for example, even if we do turn our Wi-Fi off and put our phone on airplane mode, we still are attractive a lot of voltage into our body. It's so important to minimize that, but also to get the benefits of the free flowing electrons back into our body to build that charge because we know a negative charge is what promotes like health and vitality in the system.
And if we don't have that charge, if we lose the charge on a cellular level, that's when disease begins to manifest. And This is why like grounding is such a game changer. We tend to think that food is the only way that we get energy, but actually like that is only one third of our energy source. You're supposed to be getting the grounding as one another third and also the sunlight. So all of these things in combination is giving us the energy that our body needs in order to thrive. But if we are only getting 1/3 of our energy just from food, now you can imagine that you're going to be super more reliant on food.
That's going to increase your food cravings is going to increase obviously your chances of gaining body fat as well, because you're eating more calories than your body actually needs on a cellular level because it's not able to operate properly. Let's go a little bit back to the blood viscosity topic and and maybe break that down a bit for people, because I think this is super like mind blowing, right? That the fact that it can actually improve the blood flow throughout the entire body. How is grounding actually doing that?
That's caused by the negative aeons which are coming into the system and essentially that energy is flowing through and de clumping the free radicals. So it immediately has an effect. I think they did a study some people and after, after like 5 or 10 minutes, they, they could see a significant difference, something like it. It's over 200% improvement in blood viscosity, 160% or something like that. So it's not just like a 10% improvement, it's a massive improvement. And yeah, as you can imagine, better blood flow all throughout the body has such a positive impact on so many different things.
We've got a lot of, I think the inflammation is like the stored clumped energy in a certain area of the body that can then start to flow better. And it's not going to happen straight away because inflammation is built up over a period of time and for some people that can be years and years. So I don't think we should look at grounding as a quick fix silver bullet, but over time as your blood flows better through that area and the free radicals D clump and neutralize the body can, it has a much better chance of being able to go back to its natural state than when it's constantly fighting against things.
So basically you're saying that the the clumping of the red blood cells is occurring because they are now gaining a positive charge because they have donated their electrons to fight off, you know, like anything that they need to fight off, right? So now they are they don't, they are kind of like sticking together. And so because I've kind of been reading about this and there is this thing called Zeta potential and that I think that refers to the the negative charge around the red blood cell, which actually prevents them from quite cause a negative and negative repel each other, right?
So it's sort of like when you put negative and negative together, it's impossible for them to stick together. So when the blood, when the red blood cells gain that charge, now they're they're not sticking together. Is that how it works? Yeah, that's exactly right. Yeah, that's the the simplest form of explanation of it. Yeah, it's super crazy, right? Because basically everything in our life is robbing us from our charge. If you think about every time we're accumulating voltage and everything that what you just said, like even from our diet, anything that's causing inflammation, stress, even like just a couple of minutes of usage of our phone can start to, you know, 'cause us.
I've seen some really cool pictures and and videos. I mean, I don't, I, I want to believe that they're true, right? Where they basically show like a live blood analysis where they show people who have used their cell phone for 15 minutes. And then after they see that the blood is like all clumpy and then after doing grounding for only like 30 minutes, like all of the, all of the red blood cells are now like uncoagulated and they are flowing freely. It's like mind blowing. Yeah, there, there's a lot of studies now and.
Yeah, that that stuff is real. There's also a lot of MRI photos out there which show people with inflammation and how after 1020 or 30 minutes of grounding, the heat in certain areas of their body has been dispersed. And that that heat is usually some form of inflammation. And as it's dispersed, then that inflammation is D clumping in real time. Yeah, it's pretty incredible. Yeah. I think it's so important to. Understand because you know when they talk about the safety of mobile phones, for example, they just say that that with the radiation it just has these only these thermal effects, right?
But that there are so many non thermal effects that are occurring on a cellular level. Like all of this oxidative stress and cellular damage, mitochondrial stress and damage which we are not necessarily feeling in terms of heat right there. If I have ever put my phone close to my ear, which I never do, but if I have to, if I'm in public and I can't hear anything and I actually have to take the call, I always get like a blocked ear afterwards. It's like instantaneous like so I, it's definitely having some kind of effect on the cells somehow.
The cells are really rejecting this form of like electromagnetic radiation because why it's called non-native? It's because it's not not native to our planets. So my body simply doesn't understand it. So it basically sees it as a threat. So my body, my body's just basically going into this contraction kind of a state, into this fight and flight state. And the cool thing about grounding is that it restores the body on a fundamental level. And This is why people don't actually understand like how powerful grounding is and why they think it's rule of septoscience is because it's working on a quantum level, meaning the effects are instantaneous.
Because basically what you say, the fact that you can touch a grounding sheet or a ground outside and the multi meter dropped to 0 instantaneously shows you what a fast exchange that can be in this electrical potential. And we can actually now restore the body's functions literally all over the body. And I guess the longer we do it, the more benefits we get, right? So maybe we can tell the audience, how long do you think that they need to ground in a day for them to start seeing benefits? It's a really good question and it's.
Hard to answer because it's a little bit like how, how frequently should people be moving? I think the answer to that is as frequently as possible, but I mean, as as little as 5 or 10 minutes a day is going to have a positive impact. But yeah, my, my recommendation is always ground as frequently as possible if you can ground 24/7. So my, I'm probably doing 23 hours of grounding a day where when I work and when I'm speaking to you right now, my feet are on a mat beneath the desk here, which is a grounding that.
Yeah, awesome. And then sleeping on a grounding sheet when I'm in bed. And so that takes up a large chunk of the day. And then maybe I miss a couple of hours and I'm walking around and doing things outdoors. But the more you can do it, the more your body is going to be moving away from that parasympathetic state and actually starting to go back. It's to its natural state where the body can heal and recover and reduce its stress and cortisol. So yeah, it's sort of like how long is a piece of string, but it should be as long as possible if possible.
And I know we all live really busy lifestyles and that's why I'm really proud of these products because whilst you know, you'd love to change your lifestyle and not work in front of a computer 8 hours a day or something like that, this gives you the option to at least be connected to the earth while you're doing that. Like you said before, we're not going to go backwards and be sleeping on the floor and walking around barefoot all the time anytime soon, but at least we can we can add these things into our lives, which, you know, it would be better if we could be outdoors 24/7, but this is the next best thing.
Yeah. Yeah. It's incredible. Like I feel like. People who have issues, they need to take this extremely seriously. Like even if they don't want to invest in a grounding mutt or grounding sheet straight away, I recommend for people to just test it out in nature for themselves and actually see the power of doing it right. Like because it's, it's literally night and day when you start doing it and you start to notice specifically the nervous system regulation, I think that's super huge. People who have anxiety or depression or mood, you know, disorders, they, they're like, you know, flipping back and forth between like emotional states.
I believe all of this is not in the head. It's like a physiological symptom due to a distressed nervous system state. So when your nervous system is agitated due to the fact that you have accumulated all this voltage, you have so much Ros in your system, it's like drinking a ton of coffee. Like your body is like super jittery and on the edge without drinking coffee. And if you add coffee on top of that, well, welcome to the to the court is all land, you know, so you want to make sure that you are grounding as much as you can throughout the day.
And if you can't ground so much, at least try to ground at least 30 minutes every day. Find a piece of grass or you know, dirt or even concrete is conductive because, but ideally you want to find the surface which is more damp or wet because that improves the conductivity, right? And my personal favor is actually getting in the sea because you've got the, you've got all the minerals as well. So you've got the transdermal absorption of the minerals. But because of course, because of that, it's also more conductive and you're getting you're right in submerged in the in the Earth and you're also getting that full EMF protection because I don't believe there is anywhere on Earth you can be without being exposed now to non-native electromagnetic fields.
But when you're actually under the water, that is probably the only place where you're fully shielded from from EMS right at any moment. That's right. Yeah. That there's nothing. Better than being in the ocean from a grounding perspective. And if we could do that more often, then please try. People tend to feel a lot calmer when they're walking barefoot on the beach or when they're walking barefoot on the grass. And it's a yeah, it's a physical reaction that your body is connecting to that that energy which is changing your body as you're connected to it.
And yeah, so the more we can do that. The not only that though, but like. Not only the nervous system stay, but what we're actually doing where I think we're in training. We didn't actually talk about this. Like how does grounding actually help our circadian rhythm? Yeah, similar to the how I responded to the. Last question around the flow on from reducing cortisol and things like that. So when your body is constantly fighting against things, it struggles to know its natural state. And part of that is the circadian rhythm and when to produce melatonin and things like that.
It's just constantly fighting and it's, it's on edge and too much to worry about. So as soon as you start to reduce those things out of your body, then your body can go back to its natural state. I think that's the key thing is we're, we're constantly fighting against something that the body has never had to fight against before up until, you know, how many years ago, 100 years ago, whatever. So as soon as we can go back to that natural state and start to calm the body, relax the body, then it can start to properly recover and it can just everything that flows in life we start to connect to better.
So we start, but I don't know personally, personally when I started grounding because I was thinking about connecting to the earth, whether it was being barefoot on the grass or whether it was sleeping on a grounding sheet. I then started to think more around sunlight and the light I'm getting and opening the blind as soon as I wake up and connecting to that energy. And then I start thinking more about the quality of water I'm drinking and things like that. I think most people sort of go through this process when they start to connect back to the earth.
So there's the connection to all of the beautiful things that are there for us in abundance, as well as the actual physical reaction, the physical benefits that you get when you do it. Yeah, 100% Yeah, I feel like. It reconnects you back to your true self, your true essence. You start to remember who you are. And the more we are disconnected, you know, from our from our natural world, the more confused we become. You're right. So what we are, we start to chase this fake dopamine through all of these different gadgets, the artificial blue light, the sugar, and all of the entertainment that is spiking our dopamine and it's giving it to us without burning our dopamine, right?
So we're not actually feeling that nice reward feeling that's lasting throughout the entire day, but we're having these massive spikes and drops, which is putting us in this perpetual loop of constantly feeding the dopamine beast, which is basically like social media and just all forms of entertainment really like on a, on a blue lit device. And so by being outside, at least if you are using your devices outdoors, which is what I do when I'm working, I'm trying to be outdoors as much as I can and grounded.
And when I do that, I actually don't feel like that I'm addicted to my device. But if I'm actually indoors and I'm doing it, it's a totally different story because I actually feel that, you know, I'm more addicted to my device due to the fact that, you know, the indoor environment is not a natural environment. So when we go outdoors and we reconnect with nature, it reconnects us back to our ancestral primal self, which makes us understand our primal needs and instincts. So, So what do, what do I actually need and how do I feel?
And exactly what you mentioned there, you start to become more aware about what kind of shoes do I wear? Should I wear more grounding shoes or barefoot shoes or, you know, then you start to think about the should I stay grounded 24/7? Because that's what humans used to do. So then you buy a grounding sheet and then you buy a red light therapy device because the indoor environment is devoid of red and infrared light. So if you want to get, you know, maximize, you know, or stay normal, I would say not even healthy because we're just kind of going back to baseline these days because everything is making us unhealthy, right?
So it's like a battle to stay. I would say normal, not even optimal. It's kind of hard to be optimal in this modern world, which has so many stressors and is constantly bombarding us. But one thing I wanted to mention though about the circadian rhythms is that the earth as well is producing these electromagnetic like currents and like you know, like the Schumann resonance and and this basically changing is fluctuating throughout the day. So beyond the electrical potential that we are gathering in the discharge of the voltage, we're also having this changing in frequency throughout the day, which is entraining our brain wave state.
And the cool thing is that our brain waves and also our hearts electromagnetic field is tuned to the Schumann resonance, which is around 8 or 7.8 Hertz. And, and when we are actually disconnected from that, we create this incoherence, right? And then the brain and the heart now are not working together. There's no heart brain coherence. And then that causes a lot of anxiety, depression, like feelings of worry. And when we reconnect and we ground and we, you know, we get rid of a lot of that inflammation from our system, we're able to come back into that calm mental state.
And then not only that, but that's in training our circadian rhythm because the human resonance or the the frequency doesn't stay stable throughout the whole day. And it also changes with with the seasons too. So that is a real beauty found in in connecting with the earth and grounding. Maybe we can move into pets now because, you know, a lot of people have pets, right? Cats and dogs, but they are living indoors. They're divorced from the outdoor environment where they should be connected to. Of course, I can imagine there can be many negative symptoms associated with the fact that they're not connected with the ground, But have you heard any anecdotal evidence or stories with people, you know, grounding their pets indoors and having positive impact?
Yeah, we've heard a lot of stories about that and I. Think just like, just like humans, pets, their bodies create ailments to tell them that they need to change something. So for humans, if we have anxiety or depression or a sore back or arthritis, that's our body calling out to say that something needs to change. But I think we've sort of, we've lost touch with looking to that because we're so stressed all the time. And until you listen to that, then nothing's really going to change. And that's where connecting back with the earth actually allows you to then get your body in the state to then listen to those signals and do something about it.
And yeah, I think it's the same with with pets. So, I mean, growing up, I had a dog and the dog was, it slept outside and maybe it came in for half an hour a day, a day or something like that. But our dog was always outside. And every, everyone I know is exactly the same. And now I don't know a single dog in the neighborhood or any of my friends that sleeps outside. All the dogs are inside constantly, instantly, and sleeping inside and completely removed from the earth. And maybe they'll go out for a 30 minute walk a day or something like that.
It's like humans, like maybe we'll go and exercise for 30 minutes a day. It's just like it's so far away from how we're supposed to live. And yeah, there's obviously consequences of that. I think something like 65% of dogs now either get diabetes or cancer, and that number is just sky. It's skyrocketed over the last 10/15/20 years. And there's a lot of reasons for that, like the food isn't the same quality as what they used to have and it's it's probably manufactured cheaper, the corporations pay more money and things like that.
But one thing that you can't deny is then not in contact with the earth anywhere near as much as they used to be. So what might have been 23 hours, if, you know, maybe 30 minutes a day, maybe let's say they're their own is really nice to them and they take them for two walks a day for an hour, then they're outside for two hours a day. It's just it's nowhere near enough. And the way they're made is exactly the same way that we're made. And they need to connect with the negative eons and, and recharge from that energy.
Otherwise their body tends to have issues like humans. And so yeah, we've we've heard of a lot of customers. One actually said that their dog used to have seizures all the time, epileptic seizures at least once a week. And as soon as it started using the grounding man, it stopped having seizures. So that was, that was pretty incredible. But yeah, everything's anecdotal. There's there's never going to be any scientific studies on pets because there's no money for anyone to be made there, so no one's going to sponsor them.
But yeah, the anecdotal evidence is dogs are less stressed, they're less anxious. A lot of dogs get really yappy and bark when people come to the door and things like that. And some of these things seem to have calmed and yeah, it's just it, it feels to be night and day. Some customers that have dogs that are stressed and anxious, they return to calm and they just seem to be sleeping better and happier. And it's pretty well aligned with what we say in humans, really. That's amazing. Yeah. It's just kind of.
Like what what has happened with our animals because we have domesticated them like we have domesticated ourselves brought like the, you know, nature indoors without bringing all of the elements that actually our body needs to thrive. I kind of feel like biohacking and all of these different tools is trying to mimic nature, right? Trying to bring the nature back indoors. But then obviously those things are really powerful. But the most important thing is to return back to our natural environment to be outdoors, you know, during the daytime and to be in connection with nature.
And obviously when we are indoors, we should be aiming to optimize our indoor environment to be as healthy as possible or as natural as possible by having full spectrum lighting indoors, for example, by minimizing blue light after sunset, by actually like protecting your eyes like you are doing with your blue light blocking glasses, like by putting grounding sheets on the bed. Because we spend the majority of our life sleeping, if you think about it. So it's so, so many hours can go towards more benefit, you know, and not waste because we are especially if you live in a building which is higher up, you're further away from the, you know, the Schumann resonance and the electromagnetic field of the earth as well.
And I think there are, there is some evidence, some research which suggests that the higher up you live, the the more issues you have with your health. I think there is some evidence out there. So it's actually like very clear to me that the more disconnected the literally you are. So the higher up you are away from the Earth, the more issues we experience. And then obviously that is reflecting on the animals as well, because they are designed. I mean, when we look outside in nature, even with all of the Emfs and all the electric fields and all the pollution, you still see that nature thrives.
It finds a way, right? It adapts, especially when it when it's outdoors. But all of the everything that's indoors, plants, animals, humans, anything, we all just seem to start falling apart. We become less resilient. And I, I think the keyword here is resilience is to be able to tolerate more stress. And grounding gives us that because it actually restores the body's electrical potential. It's not all the time stressed. And now we can tolerate more stress. So that means our stress bucket is bigger.
We can tolerate more stressors in our life. But when our body is like overflowing with stress and it's the book, it is overflowing while any little tiny, tiny stress, which we shouldn't actually be responding negatively to, now we are responding negatively to it. So we need to like find ways in order to make our body more resilient. And I feel like grounding is so powerful. Sunlight is huge as well in nervous system regulation. But sometimes sunlight can be stressful for people because they have they don't have even the resilience in the system.
That's why grounding and sunlight in combination is like the perfect, you know, recipe, the yin Yang ratio. Would you agree? I definitely agree with that. And I I definitely. I agree with what you were saying about people living in apartments. I know just from my own experiments here in my house, I've got ground floor on the first, first story or second floor. And when I do the testing of the voltage in my body, when I'm on the 1st floor, it's so much lower than when I'm on the 2nd floor. So really, as I move further away from the ground, yeah, there's just nowhere to discharge.
I've got tiles on the 1st floor and floor boards on the 2nd floor. So tiles are conductive because they're essentially connected to concrete that's connected to the earth, whereas the wall boards made of wood aren't touching any earth. And so it just makes complete sense. And I think about people who live in apartments, and let's say there's only like 20 apartments in the building block. All of that electricity, all of the Wi-Fi, all of the cell signals, that's all. It's all in that one spot. And nobody's touching the earth.
Particularly as you go higher, there's just not even a single chance to connect back to the earth unless you're using a grounding. And so, yeah, I think it becomes even more important the further or the higher you are away from the earth. Is there any ways to ground? Wrongly. No, I don't think so. No, as long as you're not. I mean, if you're doing a barefoot, I think as long as you're not putting your feet somewhere that you're going to get worms or parasites or pin worms or anything like that into your system.
That's probably one small thing to be wary of if you're putting your feet in mud or a lot of dirt. I think if you're putting your feet on there, your bare feet on grass or sand or if you're using a grounding sheet, there's, there's not really any wrong way to do it unless you're you've got some sort of severe ailment. So if you do have like chronic inflammation or a chronic disease or something like that, then grounding might affect you with a detox experience at the start, which can last up to a week depending on how long you're doing it for.
But we have heard of people who who were pretty sick, who have grounded and the first week has been a detox experience similar to if you've ever done a juice cleanse fast or something like that. Yes, you might feel some headache or you might feel like a bit hot or you might feel some cold flu sort of symptom. So that's, I wouldn't say it's common, but maybe 2025% of people who have some sort of serious issue will will experience that. But that that will last maximum probably 7 to 10 days and then that will subside and the benefits will start to come after that.
No, that's very true. Like. I remember, like in the past, I bought this one device, it's called Blue Shield, and it emits these like, have you heard of them before? I have. I've seen it. Yeah, I think I've seen it. Advertised on social media yeah. So basically this device emits. Some Earth's frequencies, but I think you produces them like a way higher rate compared to the Earth. And basically what it does, it emits them like intermittently. So it kind of sends them out and then like turns back off.
And the idea of this is that basically the body is constantly tuning to electromagnetic fields, like all sort of like an antenna, right? And that's this regulating your nervous system because your body is connecting with something which is incoherent, something that's not native to the environment. So the idea of the Blue Shield device is that it emits these fields that actually are native that the body can actually recognize, like the 7.8 Hertz, for example, at a way higher frequency, just a little bit like your Wi-Fi router.
And your body now is tuning to those fields because your body can recognize them and then it can sort of neutralize the other fields. And when I started using that at the beginning, I had a bit of this Herc Samer reaction, like on my forearms. I noticed that actually I got a little bit of these spots, you know, on my forearms, which was super weird, and they were super itchy for a week. And after that it was totally gone. And then I was fine. But that was the only thing that I could tell that something was happening with that thing plugged in, because it's just emitting like a little small light to tell you that it's on, but you can't actually know.
You know, I didn't specifically feel like much difference, but I have the Heroximer reaction, which is actually telling me that clearly something was happening. Yeah. That's typically a good sign, I think a lot. Of people with particularly chronic illnesses, it's taken their body a long time for them to get to the position they are. And so when the blood start blowing better and the free radicals declump, it's just it's like a whirlwind within their system. And so like the body is going to react to that.
And we know for people with eczema, maybe their eczema will get a little worse for a week or so and then it subsides. So it's like it's creating a whirlwind within the body and then pushing it all out and going back to its natural state. Yeah, I think just to summarize. Our entire discussion really, and for people to actually understand how powerful ground grounding is and how fundamental it is. Basically the body runs on voltage and charge and when that voltage drops like based on Doctor Jerry Tennant's book, like Healing his Voltage.
I don't know if you have read it, it's a, it's a great book. It basically explains how voltage is vital for the cells in order to run properly and when that negative millivolt drops. It basically that's when disease begins to manifest in different cancers and stuff like that in the body. So grounding is one of the primary ways which we restore voltage in the system, right? So it's not like as I said at the beginning, it's not just something nice to do is a biological necessity. And if you're not even grounding outside in nature, you're really missing out on something that's just as fundamental as air and water and food.
So basically it's something that you need to have in your life in combination with sunlight and other health, you know, optimization practices for your body to be healthy and to thrive, to heal, to regenerate and detoxify. But if your body hasn't doesn't have the voltage and you're all the time bombarding it with Emfs and environmental toxins, pollutants and processed foods, and also, you know, mental, psychological stress, physical stress, not sleeping, of course you're going to manifest some kind of pain or some kind of symptoms in your body for everyone.
Obviously the symptoms are going to be different depending on your weak, the link in your body. Everyone has a weak link somewhere and it's going to manifest in that way. So thank you so much, James.
