This is the Fitness Wisdom podcast.
Today I'm joined by the one and only David Weck, inventor of the BOSU Bowl, and I'm very excited for our discussion today. He leads his life with so much intensity and energy, and for great reason because he's on a mission to help everyone take every single step stronger. So thank you for coming back on the show, David. It's always an honor and a pleasure to have you. Well, it's always an honor to be here and I really enjoy your work and I appreciate the reach because again, every step stronger for everyone is the reason for my existence and your contribution to the rope flow, especially because the rope flow is what is is spreading this around the globe.
And it's only accelerating. And I think we can reach everybody. And it's not even necessarily this. It's the word of deed that you compose yourself head over foot with perfect balance to achieve an inner confidence that can't be faked and it can't be purchased. You got to do it with your physical action. And that's what this is. That's why I exist. That's wonderful, David. Yeah. And honestly, like row flow has truly changed my life and it's changed the life of so many people. Like I'm literally recommending it to every single person that I can because I've just personally noticed how much and it has enhanced my own physical and cognitive abilities.
Like, like, it's insane. It doesn't only impact your body, but impacts your brain. Like how you think. It helps you build those new neural connections. It helps you unlock things. It helps me have incredible insights and ideas. It's almost, it's like I am meditating without meditating, kind of like moving at the same time. But for people who haven't actually listened to your previous episodes, I will make sure that I will put them also in the pinned comments as well and also in the description below.
So people can actually get to know you and your story and where you came from and the invention of the Bosu ball because of those were really, really fascinating discussions. But today I want us to focus on the hands because I know you've been talking a lot about the hands and and I love the connection between the meridians and also the Myofascio trains. Do you mind talking about the connection between all three? No, absolutely. I'm very happy to do it. So I guess what I'll start with is in 2010, I made a profound discovery that I called the Core Fist.
And it involves folding the fingers to create this longitudinal force transmission. And when I form a triangle, triangle, triangle and envelope the triangle, the force coming out gets rooted back in. And if you understand Tom Myers anatomy trains, the consequence of this is I get a true return through pressurization. The harder that I pin that middle finger and squeeze it, the more fluid my proximal body gets. Because what this does is it charges the forearm and then it's a fascial septum that bypasses the biceps and the triceps and ties directly in with the pecs and the lats and this pressure changes.
If I squeeze this hard, it cuts everything off and I am restricted. I am clunky. But when I triangulate, I am fluid and integrated. Now the and I've have other iterations of that concept where the focus is on the skeletal skeleton to optimize and maximize the fascial transmission and integration of the body. My latest discovery is the fascial fist. So now it's not about wedging triangles in, it's about making this ring, ring finger thumb connection. And you take your thumb and you reach it up as high as you can to cover where the gemstone would be on the ring.
And you put it in this position doesn't require a lot of tension, but that's the position. And then you simply fold the other fingers off. So it is this right here, OK, that is the visual representation of this. And there is a special relationship whether you want to understand it Western and that anatomically, Thomas Myers, or whether you want to understand it from the Eastern perspective in the meridians, the meridians in the hand, the thumb is the lung, and it's the first Meridian in the cycle is the lung.
It associates with breath, and breath is the absolute priority. Now you need water and you need food, but the only way to get the water and food is locomotion. So in the hierarchy, if we Maslov this breathing is the most essential, can't do without it. But before water and food is locomotion. So locomotion is the second most first principles function that is required for a human being to survive, especially when it was only sticks and stones. But even if you order food, you still got to get off the couch and walk to the front door to get it.
What if your healthy habits and routines are quietly sabotaging your health and actually creating more stress on your nervous system? The truth is, your body is constantly giving you feedback, but most people are not paying attention to it. One of the best ways to really understand what's happening inside of your body is through heart rate variability, also known as HRV. The problem is, many HRV devices just give you a single number, a high score, or a low score without telling you what's actually driving the results.
This is why I use a longer HRV measuring device. Elonga doesn't just measure your HRV, it analyzes the components behind that number, giving you real insight into the balance between stress and recovery and really helps you understand what state your nervous system is actually in. In just a few minutes every morning, Elonga gives you objective feedback on how your sleep training habits and lifestyle choices are influencing your body. HRV is one of the most unbiased ways to see how your daily decisions are influencing your nervous system.
It shows you whether the things that you're doing are truly supporting your health or creating more stress than you realize. Instead of guessing, you can measure, learn, and make smarter decisions about your health, performance, and recovery. So if you want to find my favorite HRV measuring device, head over to the description and make sure to use the promo code MOBILITY FITNESS at checkout to get a nice discount on your entire order. OK, so it is so profound and you will aggregate hundreds of millions of steps in a lifetime.
OK, even a sedentary person is taking a million steps a year, so you are getting a huge amount of repetitions. And if it is out of balance, 1% that is one step doesn't matter, a hundred, 1000 doesn't matter. But 10 million? It starts to add up and you are literally eroding the structural integrity of the body, riddling it with restriction and compensatory tension. That being the vessel for your mind and your spirit, and that the physical realm, the physical domain is the accountable. 110 push ups is 10 push ups.
I don't care how many you tell me you can do. I only care how many you can actually do. And so rope flow because the hands are so neurally rich, the regions of the brain in the motor sensory cortices that correspond to the hands is huge in its proportion compared to the rest of the body from the neck down. OK. The eyes have their own, you know, continent because that teleception, being able to see is, you know, probably the most important. And then you know your ability to articulate a language.
But so. But walking and talking are learned behaviors. So if you grow up speaking French with people around you, well, then you'll speak French. If you grow up in the South, in the United States, you'll have a southern accent. So it's a learned behavior. Walking locomotion is a learned behavior. You don't come into this world with your locomotion hardwired. There was a Ukrainian girl that was raised by the dogs in the backyard because the alcoholic parents were, you know, just delinquent. And she became a dog.
So she didn't speak right. She barked and she sniffed and she growled. She walked on all fours because that was what she had modeled for both talking and walking or walking and talking. So you'll actually walk before you'll talk. And so it is so profound and so fundamental what we're trying to do because that's the only way that you can support better all things. And one of the things about rope flow is it harmonizes the the brain. So your brain facilitates what we'll call a flow state, your high performance state.
So you will cognitively, both intellectually and emotionally, you will now create and facilitate a high performance state through your physical actions. And one of the benefits of Rd. flow because to coordinate a movement, you need a lot of repetitions. If you did 10 minutes of Rd. flow, you will aggregate more than 1000 reps. And so just start adding thousands, right? What if you did Rd. flow 10 minutes every day and you did it at low intensity so it wasn't even a burden for you? You will aggregate thousands and thousands of reps and the rope is the teacher, OK?
We as coaches, what we are, is we are the facilitator to give that person, that individual, their own personal relationship with the ultimate movement teacher. That only tells you the truth. And when the rope is true flying through the air, so are you. And it will attenuate down. It will distill it down just through repetitions to a perfection. So what I say is don't let frustration in the beginning bog you down and make you quit. Just regress it to a pattern that you can do do repetitions and build on that.
And it's the most powerful foundation for all things. The rope is the Rosetta Stone, meaning you will be able to translate and assimilate any and all activities, cognitive included, when rope flow is your movement foundation. No, that's that's a fact. I definitely noticed. Go ahead. Please go ahead. Well, I'll go back to this fascial fist discovery. So this is the lung Meridian and this is what's called the triple warmer or triple Energizer. And when I went to Chinese medical school, because I have a, my, the, the scope of things that I have drove deep into is all over.
And So what I know and what I teach and do is a synthesis of these many different disciplines, right? And the truth is the truth. So it doesn't matter if you call it a tomato or a tomato or a pomodoro. It is what it is, right? A rose by any other name is still a rose. If we're going to cite Shakespeare here now, the relationship of what was called an imaginary organ. OK, so they didn't teach me what it actually was, because what it actually is, it is the fascial integration. It is the systemic organ of form that suspends and supports and separates all the individual pieces.
And the relationship of the spiral dynamic in the human body is to rotate external torsion, internal torsion along the axis that is defined by the thumb and the fourth finger. And this position right here brings that fourth finger as far away and as long as it can possibly be arranged. This is a biomechanical end game that if you want to optimize and maximize your movement, this is the structure that will do it the best. There is nothing more profound than this right here. And it's just a polarities of the internal torsion with this infinite infinitesimal intent.
So when you reach the end range of motion, you continue with your intent to keep going and that will take all slack out of the body. Not one muscle cell on slack, the everything integrated for instant transmission of force. And then the opposite. Look at how the axis does not move while I have that external torsion which associates with the deepest, strongest coil on one side and the longest strength, longest strongest on the other. And it is the side and the side that gives us the greatest bandwidth for anything that's in the middle, depending upon the task that you're doing.
Most people focus on nutrition and exercise when it comes to health, and that's cool. But if you're sitting under artificial lights all day, that's quietly sabotaging your health. That's not going to get you very far. As an educator, podcaster and fitness professional, I care about recovery as much as I do performance. The biggest secret to recovery isn't supplements, it's light. The light that hits your eyes is literally the instruction manual for your body. It says your sleep. Energy metabolism and your hormones.
The problem is the modern indoor lighting is sending that signal at the wrong times of the day, from morning to midnight, so your body never gets the message the day's over. Now if you already own a pair of blue light blocking glasses, hear me on this. Not all blue light blockers are equal. Viva rays use a three in one light balancing system. Magnetic day, sunset orange and nighttime red lenses you swap to actually match the time of day. So you get energized in blue in the morning without the eye strain and protect your sleep at night.
One pair dials you in for the entire day. That's the difference between just blocking light and actually syncing with it. Since wearing Viva Rays Blue light blocking glasses, my sleep is deeper, my recovery is fantastic, and most importantly, my energy and cognitive function are through the roof. If you're ready to experience the difference for yourself, head over to vivarays.com/mobility Fitness and make sure to use my code Mobility Fitness at checkout to get nice discount on your entire order.
The link will be in the description as well as in the pinned comments. Huge thank you to VRAS for sponsoring the show. And I discovered this through pitching. I went to Japan. I've been doing this where I wedge it in and it can be used for, you know, striking and it can be used in this relationship as well because it is the same relationship. And I went to Japan and I said, OK, well, how am I going to break the language barrier? How am I going to get them to spin on this axis? And so I said, I'll just make a peace sign and fold this over.
So I wasn't quite there to the fascial fist, but that was the insight. And then one of the I went there to coach 20 professional baseball coaches in Japan. And there was another guy there presenting and he's one of Japan's best javelin throwers. And he had us do an exercise with an elastic band. That gave me the epiphany that the key to the overhand throwing motion with a baseball, people don't get hurt with the javelin and don't get hurt with a football because you're here. But as soon as you have the burden to be behind the ball, all sorts of problems start to happen.
1/3 of Major League Baseball pitchers have a scar on their elbow called the Tommy John surgery. OK, what we do here is we use this to create what I call inside scap. So the scapula and the spine, you have the rhomboid that connects them. And basically when I go to this external torsion, I'm able to seat the shoulder down because if I'm throwing and the shoulder comes up, I'm now vulnerable. So I use this tension and this torque and this rotation to seat the shoulder and then bring the scapula to the spine as far as it can go.
And then I can go through a throwing motion that lays it back where it's going to go through the force, right? And I'm controlling it. I'm strong through the fullest range of motion and because I am inside the scapula that's the control, I have a faster axis of rotation because this doesn't rotate as fast, so I have more velocity and I don't get this crash back effect. That is where the damage happens because if I rotate here and then I go out very fast, it will create a recoil that snaps it back and it's called the crash.
And when I go from inside SCAP to absolute maximum, I don't have the crash and I do it faster. And just from what I've shared on social media right here, I have people all over the world, baseball players who are discovering this organically and I'm getting professional pitchers reaching out to me. David, just from what you're doing online, my velocity went up two miles an hour. I had a semi pro baseball player in here come in and say yesterday practice, five guys were doing it. And one of them said, this is finally giving me hope because I don't have pain anymore.
So we're getting 86 miles an hour up to 90 miles an hour. We're getting 9093 up to 9597 and 9093 used to hurt a little bit and now 9597 doesn't even hurt. And so and then there is a derivative posture, position formation of the hand that is based on this relationship. This is the longest and the longest it can be. And rather than just doing this for pitching, what we're doing is we're wedging the fingers like this and putting the finger here. And this creates sort of a mechanical lock in where I can be even more relaxed.
And I do the same exact thing. I just torsion this thing and I go through and I learn how to be here and to lay it back. So and my scapula is at my spine, so when I come, I get faster and that last little rotate sends the ball better. So you'll increase the accuracy, you'll increase the velocity, and you will be more resilient with emotion that is hurting a lot of people and it's literally just spreading organically. Right now I'm building a course for pitchers or overhand throwing, so I'll do that.
And I am also to teaching it in association with locomotion. So this here and the rope in particular, the sneak is how you understand how to set it here and then snap it through to the external. And when I take this hand posture and I use it in the back and I come up, I can literally lift my body off the ground with the upper quarter of the body to get off the ground easier and faster. And I'm sprinting with this any kind of if I have to go longer than a Sprint, I can do it on just one side where I'm here just just that much.
So it's not energy consumptive and I get off the ground easier, which reduces that impact feeling in the body and it's faster. And I'm 56 years old. I'm not that big, I'm not that strong, I'm not that powerful. But through technique, I am running with people who I have no right to run with. You know, 21 year old who plays football and a speed position, they're not blowing my doors off right. And if I set the pace for the first couple reps and we're not racing, their feedback is man, you are fast and it is all technique.
So I'll I'll be putting together a course for locomotion, I'll be putting a course together for the pitching. And the pitching, if you can't form this position, well then you just go to this position, right? But everything is predicated on that relationship. Wow, wow, that was that was absolutely mind blowing. It's so cool to realize how the hands have such a massive influence on the proximal body right, because I don't think so many people realize, you know, you see many people when they're running in this sprinting average person I'm talking about right now.
I feel like many athletes make a lot of these discoveries that you're you're talking about without them intentionally knowing it. They just naturally do it. And then you start, they start to notice that it feels better. But like for the average person, you know, there may be like walk, you know, walking and running, you know, with their hands open and they're, and they're going like super stiff and no one has really taught them. And what I love really what you were mentioning about the rope as well, is that when you're doing the rope, it starts to fix everything downstream as well.
So because you're teaching your body, you know, to make this figure great pattern in the upper body and you're really like, you know, coiling your core, it automatically organizes your lower body as well that you're actually not valgating your knees as well on the landing phase. You know, especially and you see so many women specifically because of their structures, they're a little bit more loose than men, right? Women are more likely to valgate their knees specifically and running. So I feel like Rd.
flow is such a revolutionary thing for gait in general because it just teaches your body how to commode correctly. And that, as you said, that is the foundation of our human movement. And when that's not in order, so many things can go wrong Because just, you know, people come to me and I coach them in the gym or I coach them outdoors and we do great training together. But when they when they leave me and I see them walk, I'm kind of like, whoa, like you're taking so many thousands of steps and those are the things which actually are causing you the aches and pains, not our training itself.
It's the fact that you're taking all of those steps out of balance like you're mentioning and what your discoveries of what you're saying with the hands. Another great example, it's like when I'm doing my own training, right and I'm just hopping on the spot and I literally utilize everything that you say online because, you know, a couple of years back or 2018 when I discovered you, I was, you know, testing these homemade propulsors, right? And I just noticed how incredible they made me feel. And then obviously I bought like the real thing and I bought the rope and everything and I started practicing and I, I truly understood because I felt what you were talking about.
I felt it like in my soul, I felt in my body, I felt in my brain. It felt so right and it was so weird. Like, back in 2018 when I discovered you, I didn't know why I was following you, but something through your work that you were doing rang true to me. You know, like, there was just something because I was just looking at what you were saying. I didn't understand anything that you were talking about, even though I was already in the field of fitness. But there's something deep inside of me was telling me that he's like, onto something, but I'm not really sure what he's onto.
But yeah, you've literally like gone after X on the map, which is is pretty incredible. Well, everything is predicated on the vertical integrity and the force transmission through the system. And the simplest solution is to simply walk with your head over your foot. And that's sort of the fundamental contribution that it is so simple when you understand truly X on the map. And it's very simple, right? And rope flow is what puts it in you through those thousands of repetitions where you learn how to transition your weight with this Figure 8.
And I'm the first person to identify it, discover it, define it, deliver it. And it's the pure diamond, right? So, you know, functional training, right? A lot of it is everybody has the burden to say that their training is the best, OK. And so, and there's a lot of, you know, just bad behavior in the fitness industry. You have the science lording over everyone telling you you need to be stiff and anti rotate. And you know, and that is the worst, that's the worst foundation. It creates neural confusion as you strengthen and fortify the function called freeze when fight flight responsibility is what is called for.
And then you have, you know, the functional guys who, you know, start out teaching like, oh, I'm supposed to walk like this, yay. Like I'm supposed to do that. And then I reach out and say, hey, you want to do everything better as simple as head over foot. And then they, you know, don't give the credit where it's due. They do the training, try to call it something else. And some of the brands can't do Rd. flow because that would be an admission that they learned it through me as the origin. And what's going to happen is in the physical domain results rule and 10 push ups is 10 push ups.
So you can't lie about it. And I never sought to be the top dog. I always wanted to come underneath and make everyone better, even the even my critics and the people who don't like me, the people call me a fraud and which is hundreds of thousands because of this scientific authority and the big functional brands got it from me. OK, but they won't admit it and now they don't teach rope flow yet. And if you're not putting rope flow in, you are, you're not delivering the thing that is the Rosetta Stone.
It's the ultimate foundation. It's the greatest integrative exercise that can be done. Simple piece of rope and learn 4 fundamental patterns. Regress it to simple patterns at first where you can feel the success, success and not the frustration. And my objective is to change the entire culture of the fitness industry to not be a bunch of these little fiefdoms that tell people, oh, barbells are bad, yoga's bad, oh, the inside of your foot is bad. It's nonsense. It's absolute nonsense. And they are essentially forced to comply because everybody has to bend the knee to reality.
And I don't want all this hatred and all this terrible behavior to endure in the fitness industry. I want a synthesis where we're all pulling together in the correct direction with correct intent. And I believe that ultimately this will overcome over overwhelm and underwhelm those who engage in the bad behavior. Imagine a tablet that doesn't blast artificial blue light into your eyes, disrupt your sleeve, or sabotage your health, but actually uses sunlight to power the display. If you've been listening to this podcast, you already know how damaging constant artificial blue light can be on your circadian rhythm, your sleep, and your overall.
Health. That's why I love. My Paper 7 tablet by Harborino. It's definitely one of the most interesting devices I've used in a while. The Paper 7 tablet uses something called an RLCD display, which means there is no backlight and essentially no blue light. Instead, it reflects ambient light just like paper, so the brighter your environment, the better the screen looks. And unlike E Ink devices, which are slow and stuck in black and white, this gives you full color, a smooth 60 Hertz refresh rate and the ability to run all of your favorite apps.
It also comes with 8 gigabytes of RAM for smooth performance, a 7.8 inch display that's perfect for both reading and productivity. And at only 240 grams, it's easy to carry around anywhere. The battery life holds up really well too. You're getting around 10 hours of active use and up to 12 days on standby, so you're not constantly thinking about charging it. For me personally, I like to use it a lot for writing, researching, and preparing for my podcasts. Basically all of my administrative work.
And the best part is I can do all of that outdoors in natural light so I can actually support my biology while I work instead of fighting against it. And because the screen gets brighter in brighter environments, it's incredibly easy on the eyes, even in direct sunlight. I've also noticed that it naturally improves my nighttime habits because indoor, especially at night, the screen isn't overly bright or stimulating since it uses your environment to power the display, so it kind of guides you towards better sleep hygiene and healthier circadian rhythms without even trying.
At the end of the day, technology isn't going anywhere, so the goal is to find tools that work with our biology, not against it, and this is definitely one of those devices. You definitely want to hurry up and grab yours today as they are extremely popular and run out of stock really fast. The link will be in the description below along. Alongside with a 15% discount code Yeah. I mean, once you experience like what you are sharing, David, like it's like undeniable that you know it, that it actually makes you feel incredible.
And especially like when you do Rd. flow for the first times and you start to notice how every single aspect of your life improves, including like your conventional training. For example, if you are doing like, you know, regular back squats or deadlifts or whatever, you just start to notice that everything improves. But specifically, you'll notice that you're starting to understand, you know what? This this wrist action that you were talking about, taking it all the way behind your back, tucking it into your armpit right up there and pulling it all the way to the front.
And once you understand this, you realize that, wow, like, my body is literally designed to move in this way. And it's, it's by design because the body is constantly seeking efficiency, right? Because efficiency means survival, because you're wasting the least amount of energy until you can manage to hunt and gather your food and live another day. And so, yeah, it would make sense that you would want to move in a way which optimizes efficiency and makes you feel good, especially in daily life, because I know a lot of people exercise to burn calories, right?
And I always tell people that your main objective shouldn't be really to exercise to burn calories. It should be to exercise to improve your skill, to your athleticism, your mobility, your strength, you know, the way that your your ability to move and then burning extra energy is a byproduct of that. But then, you know, when your main focus goes on that, then you start engaging in very weird type of activities, which then is not optimizing for efficiency, but it's more optimizing for calorie burn.
And then that's where a lot of self sabotage starts to take place. And so you can still train with efficiency and get incredible workouts, right? Yet well, and what I would say is you know, the functional guys will tell you that barbells are bad and you should not ever back squat with a barbell. But what if you're goal in life is to set the world record in the squat? What if you want to ride a bull? What if you want a parachute? What if you want to do things that are inherently maybe dangerous? I'm not trying to Lord over anyone and tell you don't do yoga, don't use a barbell.
OK. I think that that is the epitome of the problem is that people are trying to impose upon others what they believe is correct without the fundamental foundation that will support all things. And when you take the side side center approach and you optimize one side and you optimize the other side, you will perform a stronger back squat that is safer and stronger. And I'm the functional guy who says stronger is better. And I don't have a problem with you using a barbell if that's what you want to do.
And I have helped world record holders break their own record. Joe Sullivan would be an example at 220 lbs. He has the world record squad at 851 lbs. And if he had listened to the other functional guys, all he would feel is, oh, this guy's telling me not to do that, which I love most in the world, to break a world record, go for the glory. And because the side allows you to pack that lat on the coil side, you're getting so much deeper than you can bilaterally. So when you go side side and then center, you are stronger in the center.
And you know any functional communer who tells you that something is bad, what are they doing? What are they doing? They're imposing some belief system upon another human being to try and kill their joy and edify and uplift their brand, which is bad, very bad behavior. And they will, they will ultimately be forced to teach what is true. And my brand never sought to Lord over anyone. I don't want to tell you not to do that, what you love to do. I don't want to kill your joy. I want to give you more joy with less pain.
And I want you to perform at your very best. And it is the side, side center where the structure ultimately determine determines the function and then the function will transform the structure. And you can either do that well using the structured optimally with vertical integrity, right, that fortifies you and it's nutritive, OK. So it's better performance and it's better health and less pain, OK, let you more resilience. And to accomplish that is the foundation. So I've always sought to be the 10 finger that if you don't step up on the 10 fingers that I am teaching, well then you cannot optimize that what you want to do and rope flow again back to cognition itself.
And if you're not teaching rope flow and you're a fitness professional, well then you're deficient at the most fundamental level. And everything that you build on top of that is not as optimal as it would be if you just simply use the fundamental teacher to integrate the entire body. And you know, I'm competitive, but my competitive nature is geared 100% to helping as many people as possible. And that is what satisfies my ego, right? I don't say that Weck method is for everyone, but everyone is not for Weck method.
No, no, everyone it, it is for everyone and everyone is for it because it is predicated on the absolute foundation, which again is the second most important function that a human being can do, which is to locomote in balance. So we have the science on top, teaching what is fundamentally core up. It's corrupt, it's not true, and it's harmful neurologically. OK, perfecting freeze. And then we have functional guys who are better than the, you know, the stiff spine is best. That's the worst thing you can do.
And then you have the functional guys who are poo pooing what they're doing, but it's not poo pulling it at the fundamental level. It's saying, OK, we'll avoid all, you know, bilateral strength. Well, barbells, unnatural. Oh, really? Well, so is a cup of coffee. You know what I mean? Like, we are tool users and if you want to drink coffee, you want to drink tea, you want to drink water, you want to drink whatever you want. I don't want to be the guy who's telling you you shouldn't do it right. Do what you want to do.
Give people as much information as possible and what my goal is to give them in formation. Let's obey and bend the knee to reality. Everybody has to bend the knee to reality because that's what serves everyone the best. And the fitness industry is so toxic and, and my, my objective is to win. But I define my win by the number of people I can help and the profundity with which I can help them. And my ego is huge, so I need to win. And my win is not defined by me winning. I'm athletically inadequate.
I can't get paid to play anything. So my best alternative is to help the people who get paid to play play better with more resilience and have that trickle down to everyone. And it is simple, and it is more natural to move in balance than it is to move out of balance. And it's the modern convenience and technology that erodes the need for efficiency. And when a human being doesn't need to do it, well, they're less apartment to do it. And so this is just about in formation. The knowledge is the power and my critics and my enemies and those people who attack me, they will benefit too.
And that is the ultimate victory is to help your adversary be better. And it's the also the most humiliating thing for an expert to find out that they weren't actually expert. So that's my, you know, that's my response is and I'm competitive and if you attack me unjustly, which, you know, if you attack me, I don't care. But if you attack my work now you're harming everyone else. So that's how I win, by helping everyone. Modern life has created the problem our biology was never designed for. It keeps us stuck in a state of fighting flight.
Your biology isn't designed to live there 24/7. The parasympathetic nervous system, which is your rest and digest state, is where your body can prioritize restoration, regeneration, and resilience. That's why tools to optimize the parasympathetic state are an absolute game changer for nervous system optimization. Xenoel, a transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulator, stimulates the vagus nerve through the ear, supporting the pathway involved in autonomic balance and regulating brain body connection.
Whether I'm dealing with chronic stress, trying to optimize recovery, deepen my meditation, or simply counter the demands of modern life, Xeno Well gives me a practical way to help my nervous system transition out of a constant stress mode and back into a state of recovery. Because true performance isn't always about pushing harder, it's about knowing how to switch into recovery mode. So if you wish to explore my favorite vagus nerve stimulator, head over to Xeno Well AI forward slash Mobility Fitness and make sure to use the promo code Mobility Fitness at checkout to get nice discount on your entire order.
Absolutely. And you know, why I really like appreciate your work, David, is because you never like bash anybody online. You just focus on your own doing and you keep on working on that X on the map, on the map that we're talking about right now. You're constantly hammering and working on your craft, working on discovering, you know, new ways for people to move better and more efficiently and more athletically because they can be more pain free and improve their quality of life, but also the athletes lives as well as you are doing.
And so this is what I really appreciate about you, that, you know, you don't go around like making specific like, you know, videos focusing on other people, but you're focusing on your own brand, building your thing. And people are really resonating with what you're saying because clearly the word is spreading like wildfire, you know? Well, I would qualify that with saying that I am a counterpuncher so I never provoke an attack. But when I am attacked, I have engaged in bad behavior myself by being pissing vinegar and just not going to take it.
I'm from New Jersey and if you attack my work unjustly, well, I'm punching back. And now, because we are achieving and reaching a critical mass, I'm able to now start changing my behavior to not have to punch back, because I have a growing army of people who are doing the punching back without punching, simply by engaging that which will serve them best. And I I just like my teeth. My teeth get sharper if you attack me unjustly. My work, well then I will not tolerate that. And so I went through a phase where I was very caustic on the Internet and it puts off people who, you know, come to it and don't know the circumstances.
And that's the last thing that I want to continue to do. So it really is a maturation. My process and my evolution is to let the work speak for itself. But I do defend my work and I will die on that hill if you're trying to prevent people from building the true strongest foundation, which is to make every step stronger at the fundamental level. Absolutely. Let's let's move on to the power vest a little bit because I want you to tell people like the significance of the power fest, what it is, what it does, like why it's so incredible.
And maybe we can tie that into wings and slings or wings and springs that you talk about. I love that concept. You know, I kind of, I don't think I understand it, but I do understand it physically when I do it. You know, for example, if I'm hopping on the spot, I'll ring my my wrists and I'll tuck my elbows in as I'm jumping at the same time. And I just feel like my body's floating in space and I'm, I feel like I'm wearing a power vest without wearing the power vest. But I can imagine by wearing it, it would take me to a whole nother level.
So tell me a bit about it. OK, So the power vest is a vest that basically has spring loaded cartridges in it. That the liver force that that bounces back up and when it's strapped on your body, you get that spring up effect because a weight suspended on a spring that goes down has a return that happens in between the time that you land and stop going down and launch and start going up. This fits in between and it is so extraordinary that we are now getting data, empirical data with electronic timers that athletes are able to do a family Sprint where you where you build your speed, build your speed, you get up to your top speed and then you run through the timing gates and athletes are running faster through that was timing gates wearing the vest then not wearing the vest.
And how is it possible to put weight on your body and run faster? That is the most counterintuitive thing that there could be. And the great thing about the power vest is there is literally 0 learning curve. So we have one of our coaches who doesn't tell his athletes what he's doing. He just says Sprint without it. Now put it on and just Sprint. He didn't tell them anything. 0 instruction and they get that positive training effect and the consequences of the consequences of moving your body faster with more mass, but not any more contact time on the ground.
You by definition are expressing more power and now the nervous system and the tissues have experienced that. So now it's a lot easier to get there when you've been there. OK, the nervous system is experienced. You're getting a training effect that makes you faster when you take it off. And the physics of it are so counterintuitive because it is the microsecond delay component that this will only trigger into its action after you have stopped. Until you stop, the weight is still at the top, so there is a microsecond in between.
And that pop, pop, pop, pop, pop pop actually dampens and lowers the peak impact force. So the power vest is so remarkably gentle on joints that many people whose knees hurt don't hurt with the power vest. And you don't get burden on your shoulders like dead weight. So it's not sapping you. And like if you wore just a weight vest for 8 hours, you're going to have this tension in your shoulders and stuff. The power vest floats on you and you're getting a less than gravity effect when you do this.
It's literally like hitting. So you're at the doctor's office and the rubber mallet hits your patellar tendon and then your leg goes because the force hit and disappears so fast that the fascia sets up and reacts with a recoil that is much more efficient and less painful. So we are getting better performance and less pain from using the power vest and the fact that you can run up a hill faster, the fact that you can fly Sprint faster, the fact that jumping up and doing plyometrics, you're not on the ground longer, but you have more aggregate force because you have the additional weight.
But because there's no more time on the ground. And if you weren't wearing it, you're getting a training effect, effect that is unprecedented with 0 learning curve. And so it is my biggest concept to date in terms of a new athletic advantage. And it just is what it is. And so it's undeniable. And the athletic advantage is really the athletic necessity because if your competition is using something that provides advantage and you are not, you have a disadvantage. So it becomes this ubiquitous thing that if you want to be your best, well, then this is part of the puzzle.
And it's a brand new piece. It's never existed before. And that has the IT it, it literally sets the stage for universal adoption for those who want to move better, faster, more athletic and less pain. So we have like both ends of the spectrum are covered with this power vest. This. Is not a micro plastic gum, it's a natural resin from the mastic tree stray from nature. Most modern chewing gums are built around synthetic bases and artificial ingredients. Mastic gum goes back thousands of years. A plant resin that delivers a completely.
Different chewing experience. It's not just something that you chew, it's literally a workout for your mouth. The firm texture of mastic gum challenges your jaw muscles, giving your chewing system a natural form of resistance training while encouraging saliva production and supporting A healthier oral environment. And here is where it actually gets interesting. Chewing is one of the strongest sensory inputs connected to your nervous system. Mastic gum activates the trigeminal nerve, the nerve responsible for much of your jaw and facial sensation, which communicates with brain pathways involved in relaxation and vagus nerve activity, helping support a more parasympathetic state.
For people like myself. Focused on metabolic health, cellular Wellness, and optimizing my daily routines, mastic gum is a simple ritual that combines ancient tradition with modern science. So if you wish to explore my favorite mastic gum, head over to gregogum.com/mobility Fitness and make sure to use the code Mobility Fitness at checkout to get a nice discount on your entire order. Thank you, Greco Gum for sponsoring the show. Wow, that's incredible and I'm sure that many people. Who are not into fitness at all would benefit from this, right?
Just regular people going about their day, you know, saving their joints by like getting feedback from every single step. Yes, exactly. You have a haptic sort of. You hear it, you feel it, and it encourages movement. It puts a spring in your steps. Skipping is more fun. People describe it as like, oh, man, I feel like I strapped on a trampoline. And the nervous system now is bearing more weight. So your nervous system is calibrating to OK whatever I am, I'm 10 lbs or 15 lbs heavier depending upon the, you know, whether you use the pro version 15 or the active version 10.
But the active version is athletic as well, so you get the benefit athletically of either one. The active version is very conducive to just wearing it for duration, and when you take it off you're suddenly 10 lbs lighter. But your nervous system is used to for whatever the duration you've been wearing it to being heavier without the burden of that heavier that never weighs you down. It only helps you spring up. And using the power vest was, I think instrumental in me making this wings and springs discovery that derived from the overhand throwing motion that when I do this position to optimize and I come up in the back with that where I literally create a lift, a lift effect where my upper quarter right, my upper body is now contributing to getting off the ground.
So there's less systemic burden and you get to go faster and the sneak in rope flow is the pattern that puts the neurological coordination into you by definition, because the sneak comes behind the back and it whips out and snaps out. And I created rope flow to enhance my athletic prowess. That's why I created it and that's why I do it. So I don't do a lot of the tricks, but I love the tricks. So I'm not telling anyone don't do the tricks if that's what you love to do. It's amazing. But rather than doing the OK like this to, to trap the handle and be relaxed, I move it to here now and I put the rope through here.
And so now I have more longitudinal access as opposed to here. I'm not in. You see how it's not that straight line, but when I do this now, it's a true straight and the power that I'm able to express is greater when I do a sneak, when I do a dragon roll, when I do an underhand, when I do an overhand because the function is dictated by the structure and when I have the structure optimized and it's a biomechanical end game. You cannot be more integrated without this position. This is the totality.
And you've heard of looks maxing, right? So this very popular thing where you know, you hit your cheekbones and you get surgery to make your jaw bigger or whatever, this is movement maxing. And there are zero negative side effects. And you cannot movement Max without the fascial fist and the coil and the coil the side side center. And unless you have this structure, you are not maxing your movement. And so I think it's going to play well on the social media because the reality of it is true. And if you don't look like Brad Pitt and you're never going to look like Brad Pitt, there's a limit to how much you can Max your looks.
There's the danger that you're going to do unhealthy things to Max your looks. There is the danger that you go way too far maxing your looks where now you don't actually look as good as you think you do, right? And this has the zero side effects that you're developing, the inner confidence that trans it sends how you look. It's a confidence. And confidence is the truly sexiest factor is that you have this deep confidence that can't be purchased and it can't be faked. You have to do it physically, structurally functional.
And so my goal again is to help everyone and movement maxing has zero negative side effects. The only zero, the only side effect that would be negative is feeling silly because it's not normalized yet, right? Oh, that looks weird. OK whoa, right. Or you've been told that I'm the fraud because I don't teach anti rotation and therefore I'm wrong, right? Or it's the functional guy that you know is competitive in the wrong way because they haven't balanced the competitive nature which we need OK, with the cooperative nature that we are sharing information with others.
And Bruce Lee said it best. Absorb what's useful, discard what is not, and add what is uniquely your own. And so I'm underneath, I'm underneath the science. I am underneath the functional guys. And they all benefit from my discoveries and my work. So I satisfy my competitive nature by being cooperative in the sense that I'm 10 fingers for everyone. And regardless of your brand, regardless of your brand, you will only do your brand by adding what is uniquely your own and building upon it. And I tell my coaches, use my work to go so far that you now teach me things, right?
Be competitive, be competitive, be better than me, right? I want you to be better than me. I'm not the guru. Who does the guru go to? I'm providing 10 fingers to make everyone better. And for me, again, that balances my competitive nature because I get to be the one who helped you, even though you hate me right now. And so I win the the competition by framing it as the cooperative. I want to help everyone, including my enemies, right? Like I said before, that's the ultimate victory is to enhance your enemy and give them no choice.
KNOW now you know knowledge is power, right? So now you bend the need of reality and by proxy to me, because I identified the reality and I'm very competitive. And if I'm unjustly attacked to my work and I'm me, you can call me anything you want, don't care but my work. Now again, you are an enemy of true function if you attacked my work, and that's the balance of competition and cooperation. Let's talk about your book, David, because I know that you're running a bit short on time definitely to get tell us the title of your book, what it's about, a bit of a brief breakdown.
I will make sure to put everything in the links in the description below as well, as well as all the products that you talked about today, the power vest, the flow ropes, everything. People will be able to get a discount as well with the link to your website. So I'll make sure that everything is included. So go ahead and tell me about your book. OK, so the title of the book is Every Step Stronger Your Foundation for winning at Life, and it's about ready to release. I have one last step, which is the final layout for the e-book.
I'm going to launch it at a very low price on day one and I'm going to call on the community, the road flow community to help me make it a big best seller and spread the word. Not necessarily here, but in the way that you comport yourself so others around you have that even sub cognitive understanding of what it is to move your very best the foundation. And it's a very good book. I paid some ghost writers to create the architecture and the basic draft, and I wrote the book within that framework.
So it's in. It's an incredible book, an easy read. You get a lot of different subjects, entrepreneurship, mental health, recovery from disaster, specific information about the hands and the feet, and then a 21 day perfect head over foot balance program. 3 weeks to aggregate enough reps that you can make it just second nature and you don't have to think about it by thinking about it very deliberately for about 3 weeks. You know sort of a rough estimate of how long it takes to sort of normalize a new behavior.
So if you aggregate enough reps mindfully, well then your body sort of adopts that, and now that becomes the new normal. And head over foot is the simple cue that human beings must do to walk locomote with perfect balance. Absolutely. Well, David, you're an absolute wealth of knowledge and you're definitely a gem. We need to protect your all costs. Thank you for coming on the show and and please stay on the line when I end the call. OK, absolutely. Thank you for the opportunity to share the information.
If you guys enjoy the topics and guests I bring on the show, I would really appreciate if you left me a five star review on Spotify and subscribe to Fitness Wisdom Podcast on YouTube as well. This helps us. Spread the knowledge and wisdom with the world. Until next time.
